I'm curious what the average salary is for an Associate Agent. I'm licensed & do everything after the sale is made as well as refer new business. I have 14 years in the industry but have been at the current company less than a year, so I know that plays a part as well. Anyone in a like-position by chance?State Farm Allstate Travelers

Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!
A nice comfortable office chair.
https://ergochair.co/collections/chairs/products/ergonomics-mesh-chair-w-adjustable-headrest-and-armrest?variant=32511617597491
My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.
AMA.
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?
New to Fishbowl?
unlock all discussions on Fishbowl.

You know - it’s also interesting how so many former consultants now in tech love to announce on Fishbowl how much they get paid and how little they work.
Could be why they are getting dismissed?
I went consulting -> tech -> consulting
There's good money to be made in both. For me, personally, consulting presented a higher ceiling. I do miss routinely quitting for the day at 1pm to kayak out to a small island with friends for afternoon drinks. I use to think I might go back to tech for WLB; now I think I'll just retire sooner.

I worked for MySpace when Newscorp came in and bought us, thinking they knew how to run our operation. At the time, we had just moved from Coldfusion to .Net, and we had huge changes underway.
MySpace Music was in the middle of building a subscription based streaming music program. It would be the first in the world of its kind. As hard as it is to believe, in 2007, MySpace music had more streaming music than any other platform. Our plan was to offer an unlimited catalog of streaming music for only $7.99 per month. It would be the first time our platform ever had a subscription or paid service.
Newscorp said the idea of streaming music would never work, and scrapped my entire department. Everyone was laid off, including me.
Six months later, about 80% of the staff had been cut. Everyone that knew our platform was gone, except a few people in management. Code that was “glue holding things in place” was neglected. Eventually Myspace just crashed all the time. The community teams were gone. All the changes that the core team were working on… disappeared.
Even our video team was gone. (They had a product that was eventually going to live on an iPhone app that looked remarkably like Instagram, but with videos and photos in different tabs.)
Twitter will suffer the same fate. Years of institutional knowledge will be gone. People will say that Twitter needed to be revenue positive, or that advertisers never wanted to be there. Twitter, like MySpace, was toxic and weird. But it still worked.
Remove the engineers, drop morale, put in your own ideas. Watch the entire thing fall apart.
Em2, Apple is never the first mover, but offers the best of it when it launches. I guess MySapxe would have been that.

Does anyone actually think this guy is cool?
Acting like reddit is free speech🤡
They should have IPO'd so we could laugh
Is this after all a text blogging company? Why do they need 7,500 people anyway?
WhatsApp had 25 people when they were sold…Twitter should be okay with 1,000 people.
Whatsapp also didn't have any business functions to deal with the monetization of the platform (such as an ad team, accounting/ finance, etc.) or any sort of governance/admin function since there really isn't any public platform. Both of those functions require hundreds, if not thousands, of people. Comparing Twitter to Whatsapp is apples to oranges, at best.
I think he might be trying to make money with his investment?
SA1 - definitely matters to me how. I understand layoffs are sometimes due to business need and out of the control of leaders. But how they communicate that isn’t out of their control and is a direct reflection of their respect for their employees and their self respect. How matters.
Just like I care how someone breaks up w me etc. A text is definitely disrespectful va doing in person, etc.
Believe you mean Sauvage. A bottle of the Johnny Depp cologne is part of the severance.

Doing the Thoma bravo strategy— take bloated tech cos with huge orgs, reduce unnecessary headcount… profit???
That is all assuming that revenues stay the same, but he is already seeing advertisers pull back.

Dang. Sad
Can confirm. Was on a call with my team until I lost access
This isn’t layoffs this is going to be a slaughter. Could see 30%+ gone in months
100% he is coming in and strip mining this company. Layer by Layer and as the weeks go on, he wants some part of this tech. I’m not sure what but there is layers to the technology that he just needs and can’t get from Tesla. My Two cents he has a plan, he is cold and calculated.

- buy company
- need to service comical amounts of debt
- lay off staff
- implement controversial editorial decisions
- scare advertisers
- hike subscription costs, hope people don't notice
dude is literally copying the "hedge fund buys local newspaper" business model lmao

Sorry PW4.
Can you comment on the WLB at Twitter? How accurate are those Tiktokers about only working 20 hours a week and chilling all the time?
It’s not savage. It’s necessary cost saving to save the ~70% of employees who remain.
Also it’s hardly a surprise. They’ve had several months notice at this point.
I feel like he’s just a sad person with a lot of money playing games at the expense of people’s lives. And when this doesn’t make him happy he will probably have another kid that will grow up to hate him like the rest of his kids do.
Twitter hasn’t been profitable for years. What were these engineers up to?
Their monetization potential is brutal. Maybe they turn it around but not holding my breath
It’d be a great exit strat if Elon weren’t so opposed to remote work. I live well in North TX, I’m not moving to the Bay Area.
Lost my access this morning
Let's hope it's the woke who go! Long overdue. Save America, Elon!
Yeah, that didn’t happen….
