You probably in audit complained about the hours and lack of pay. Proceeded to go to FDD and continue to complain about how “ hard” the work is yet still get paid more than anyone your level that’s in audit. Yet you still want more? If you don’t like what you make then why did you accept the offer ?
Agreed, the comp/work trade off is better in audit right now. FDD pay is awful. Learning a lot though and that keeps me going
I wouldn’t call the work hard. Learning excel skills definitely helps with the analyses that’s done in FDD. And it’s by far not as tedious as audit. You would rather sit and do control testing for hours? The most you will ever do for FDD in terms of testing is maybe look at a couple invoices to support an EBITDA addback.
Yeah I hated those testing for sure. I feel so overwhelmed with excel and other tech stuff in here.
I switched and got 50% more. But tbf I also got a title bump
I did not — switched from PwC to KPMG. I tried to transfer internally but they took forever and weren’t making it easy. Very happy I switched to KPMG, and am actually at 110k now since I got a raise in Oct (moved to KPMG in April and qualified for YE raise and bonus).
I jumped from audit as well (S1 —> S1) and got a 25% bump on my base. Where you will definitely make more is on bonus. I only worked ~ 7 months of our fiscal year, but got nearly a 20% bonus in this most recent comp cycle. My pay bump from S1 —> S2 (non promo) was also ~25% this year. If you perform well, I’m sure you’ll get a decent lift in the next comp cycle. The firms will give you enough to coax you over, but definitely won’t pay out on the highest end until you prove yourself.
^^this is true. I got a MUCH better FDD bonus compared to audit before. And after getting more FDD reps you get better raises too
Did you transfer or switch firms? Switching generally pays more.
Why does switching usually pay more? I can’t wrap my head around that-doesn’t it cost way more to train an entirely new hire versus internal?
Being in audit, I feel audit compensation is less than it should be.
