McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

Guys there’s this boot camp that I came across that trains people to get jobs in Top consulting firms and has a fee plan wherein you pay once you get placed. I just wanted to know if someone here has any experience with this ?

I mean I don’t agree with this exactly. Yet it’s hard to feel bad for the folks who used to talk about 300k TC and 20 hour weeks. When I got laid off from consulting I got 2 weeks severance lol.

The stress of economic uncertainty is really hard .
Plus you have to consider the time wasted recruiting.
Not everyone laid off was a tech person, some of them are marketing/ hr professionals, which to be frank aren't sought after as strongly. Many lost their lively hood, the best job they will ever have.
Show some decorum
They are getting paid for it though… for four months.
Strong market? Most tech companies have hiring freeze
Who said they have to work for a tech company? Majority of other industries are still short staffed.. its still very much so an employee market

Tell me you’ve never been through hard times without telling me you’ve never been through hard times…
OP obviously you have no responsibilities outside of work, must have a trust fund, and have never experienced hardship
Or, you’re young and don’t get it
It isn’t a silver lining when it comes from someone who isn’t impacted by the layoffs.
Some were out on maternity. Some were recovering from cancer. Some are single parents. Some are paying for their parents. Some have a huge debt they’re recovering from.
Severance pay is good but not ever enough.

The generous severance is the least that should be done for those laid off. And you really think getting another job will happen in a few weeks? For all 11K people who have joined the larger pool of other recent layoffs that include more than just Twitter? Yes, some will be fortunate, but not all.
One day you’ll experience this for yourself and then you’ll come to understand.
This is a poor mindset and perspective. People have lost a job and that in itself has impacts to people’s family’s, livelihood, etc. They worked for a company that puts compensation and benefits at the forefront. More companies should do this.
Of course! Similar to big pharma and the food industry right? We don’t go after either of those though.
Take an empathy course my friend. This isn’t an unpopular opinion, it’s just wrong.
Rising Star
You apparently don’t know what an opinion is
The people on work visas are now on a ticking clock to stay in this country, potentially having to leave family or even their own children behind.
This isn’t just an unpopular opinion, it’s a cruel and totally unnecessary sentiment towards 11k people who just lost their livelihoods.
Chief
Maybe you could just look for the thread making the exact same point less than a day ago
So now people have to do research on this app before saying anything?

Yup your opinion is unpopular and insensitive. Are you getting the attention you wanted?
Rising Star
Agreed OP. I know it’s unpopular but humans love being dramatic about minuscule things
First, there are 11k more people looking for jobs. That makes it more difficult.
Second, just knowing the fact that you don’t have a job now and you are sole provider for your family, kills you inside.
People don’t just go from stable predictable life to this unemployed life just like that.
So these thoughts you are having are insensitive and shows lack of empathy

Spill the tea what was their severance
Not to mention early equity vest for those whose equity did not fully vest!
Disgusted… wow
Is it also hard for you to feel sorry for people like this, who lost their job weeks before a shoe life event? But I guess in your eyes no worries because she can just spend the time that would have been her maternity leave to search for a new job.

Can’t generalize anything. It will be hard for some folks to find new jobs.
