Wanting to stop practicing soon…I’ve felt this way since day 1 and I’m been practicing for 6 years. Thinking about legal editing or compliance…anyone made a similar transition? No kids, loans, and a low mortgage so pay decrease not a huge factor.

I started off in compliance. I practiced for four years and I’m going back to compliance next month. Honestly, compliance was WAY less stressful imo. I’m happy to go back and I’m only making 40k less than non-market big law.

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

I am wanting to start investing in real estate in the new year… I’m using this month to read up on it and familiarize myself with it. I am a true beginner and wanted to ask for any tips, tricks, advice, books, videos, magazines, podcasts, etc to start? Please let me know!

I am looking to enter big law. I had a clerkship on a state Business Calendar and am a current first year litigation associate where I have prepared for a trial, taken and defended depositions, and have extensive motion writing practice in tech, business, and employment cases. I work with great people. Really can’t say anything bad about my firm in general either. But…I still dislike the entire premise of law firm life, the billable hour, etc.. First world problems I suppose. I’m very thankful to have a job ❤️

I’m a fifth year associate who is ready to get out of litigation (and private practice altogether). I’ve only ever done professional malpractice (legal, med mal, etc) and feel like those skills will not transfer as well if I had done transactional work. I’ve been practicing in both big law (many yrs ago) and now in-house for over 10 years. Quite often I struggle because I don’t find work fulfilling. I’ve been in industries that allegedly have greater cause (healthcare) but was eventually disappointed by the corporate bureaucracy and went to a cutting-edge tech company for intellectual stimulation. Still I struggle. Should I try public interest? Not that I don’t need the money but it’s hard to work when I am so detached and find it meaningless
