We use PDFs of decks to receive comments from our clients. My strategy is to add additional clarifying comments to the PDF for vague feedback and then flag any major general notes in my email when I send the PDF back to my team.

I am now being asked to retype all client comments from the PDF in the email. There are sometimes hundreds of comments. I am strongly opposed to this and makes me question my org, their efficiency practices, their process, and just WHY.

Anyone else have this issue?

Back in the day we used to have to mark up the mechs with the feedback and then send a change order with alllll the feedback in written form. We finally did away with the mark ups unless absolutely necessary. Since u are on the acct side use that to your benefit. Tell them doing this action twice will increase the amount of hours required and result in exceeding the scoped hours for the project so you can provide it in one format but not both.

This is great advice! My main POV is why are we using a feedback type with our clients that doesn’t work for us internally. It just seems really clunky to me?

Finally a post that talks about things that account people actually do.

Export comments to Word/Excel?

I could do this and save some time but the tricky part is if a comment says “cut this” I then have to describe what to cut because the editors can’t see what “cut this” is pointing to. Not passing along the PDF is just silly to me. 😞

Further: I have voiced my disapproval of this inefficiency but “it works better for the producers and PMs” 😑

Proofing software is the only correct answer here.

I used the same strategy. Who is asking you to do this? Don’t they want to view the comments on the document to see what they are referring to?

The PMs have to take this feedback and put it into our software so they just want me to have to retype it vs them. But also just upload the PDF!??

How would you rate the freelance market at the moment? I’ve recently quit fulltime, and beyond a couple of my own (LLC) short client projects - I’ve had zero agency freelance over the summer.

What am I doing wrong? I left FT to address some long term burnout, but now I’m afraid if this continues - I’ll have to go back full time, without even snagging a FL gig. 🫤
