State Farm is the absolute worst right now. I also agree that Liberty Mutual isn't bad
State Farm is the literal worst!
Once you’ve taken a few extra contractual millions from them, SF tends to chill out. Allstate is pretty awful these days. You’re definitely not in good hands with them. Not only do they blow policies wide open but then they make you go through bad faith litigation to collect.
Allstate is HORRIBLE. That couldn’t be more true. An adjuster is offering 2000 right now on a policy limits case.
State Farm is not even insurance. They are more of a call avoidance center
Definitely Progressive 🤢
GEICO is horrible. Liberty Mutual is a favorite.
Not sure what makes one carrier bad or difficult to work with. Give some examples.
What state are you in
Let’s take a different view of this. I’m a 30+ year attorney. 13 in Plaintiff, 20 in Defense. I’m licensed in multiple states and admitted to federal court or PHV in about 8 more.
My view is that your question can’t be easily answered in the context provided. Different insurance carriers approach settlement and view exposures differently in various jurisdictions. While a specific carrier may be very difficult in State A, that same carrier might be really easy to deal with in State B. My experience also confirms that timing is a factor. Many carriers are cyclical in how they approach cases. Getting hit with a big award or sanctions can alter a difficult carriers approach, while winning an important appeal can make them take a hard line approach. A changing in upper management in a specific state is also an important factor.
Agree with this having worked now in 3 different states doing PI and having colleagues in several others. Allstate was terrible in RI and MA, but is easier to deal with in Washington.
