Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones?

If the money’s right, they can say I’m the mailroom copy editor.
Once you hit a certain level, jobs become scarce. So it makes sense to take lower titles to get some work. Nobody has ever questioned it.
It’s all about the $$$. Titles mean nothing
Agree with SC1, as long as I'm paid what I'm worth I don't really care what my title is
Not a red flag on a resume at all to me. I'd talk to someone before I made the decision it was a red flag.
If everyone is trading down, what hope do I have in moving up... so depressing
I took a lower position that’s actually not creative after I got laid off. It’s a pay cut but better than unemployment and might possibly lead to other opportunities down the road. 🤷♀️
I would happily take a junior copywriter role if it allowed me to do the work I want to do
This happens all the time with freelance. For full time, I’d ask why you took a title down, but would never look at that as a red flag. Also, titles vary greatly by agency, and sometimes you get a chance to work on a cool project at a lower title.
It doesn’t look good. You will always have to clarify why you went lower. I went from ACD to Sr CW three jobs ago and still get quizzed about it. They just want to make sure you didn’t go back down for performance reasons ie no one was willing to hire you at ACD level.
