Definitely better work-life balance. I make enough to live comfortably, but I rarely have to work over 40 hours. And I've never had a hard time using my leave. I was also always having to stay one step ahead of a layoff. Now I have a relatively safer job in terms of job security.

The attractive benefits package definitely helped. On top of that, a good retirement plan and better opportunities for career advancement. It was a no-brainer for me. I took a pay cut from my last job but the work is much easier.

Impact I'm making through my work, longevity, benefits, and sometimes work-life-balance. Federal Government employment is a goal of mine.

Can you tell me about the insurance, deductible and other benefits?

Stability with a State Government job. The Pay is on the lower end, and benefits aren't much better compared to the pricate sector. But the security of knowing your job is always gonna be there is nice. As well as knowing you have a pention waiting for you when you retire.....maybe.

I was attracted to public service and being able to be a part of something that helps people of California. The job stability is definitely a factor but the salary and benefits have never been the main reason to stay. It's knowing my job is to serve and try and make a positive difference. That's very rewarding.

private sector takes advantage of salaried employees, often making professionals work 50+ hours/week. overtime is not even an option in most government roles.

The salary and curiosity about it all.

Basically, I was unemployed and became a temp. The agency hired me into the federal position I was temping for because I am a great asset. I've been a civil servant for nearly 18 years.

The benefits, retirement package, and more reasonable working hours is what sold me on working for the government. I am lucky that I work for a local municipal government that has a lot of money to offer great benefits.
I grew up watching how my extremely, hard working mother was treated after dedicating 44 years of her life to a large well-known corporation. Let's just say that they worked her like a dog, treated her as if she was just an easy, irreplaceable number and did not value her dedicated hard work or compensate her for it. After growing up observing this and seeing how many large corporations treat their employees, I vowed never to work for Corporate America.

Hi fishes,
I am currently working as a Data Science Analyst in Amex and would like to make a switch to Fraud detection/Credit risk modelling in future.(not in a hurry but would like to start preparing for the same)
How should I go about preparing for it? Is MBA the only course?
My current tech stack is Python, Pyspark, Hive, SQL, ML, DL(specifically NLP based). I have already done MS in CS from IIT Kgp.
I am confused mainly cause the tech stack requirement is similar to my role in the company.

So I have family situation I've been dealing with and yesterday at a company function outside the office, my supervisor brought it up in front of a bunch of people. First of all highly inappropriate, but also it's nobody's business. She's made comments before outside of work about how her boss is gay, blah blah blah. I'm just at a loss. Should I report it to HR? And if I do, how do I do it without it being known that it came from me??

I am considering an offer for an AE role (UK-LDN) where the base is £42k & OTE is £70k. The Regional GM has verbally promised to move it up to £50k base if I perform well during the probationary period, but I can’t have it in writing on the contract. I’ve tried to counter offer but they said I’m currently maxing the salary band (L4). This role is exciting as I’d be the first UK employee, doing the full sales cycle & more but I had the same base and ote as an SDR. Is it too low? Do I take it?
