I think about my mortgage payment and my kids who are always wanting to eat, and that usually motivates me to get back on task.
In seriousness, staying focused at home takes a new kind of self-control for most people, and being aware of that is a good first step. For me having a dedicated office space and schedule go a long way to helping me stay in "work mode." I was super strict with my schedule early on and for a good period of time. At some point I became confident in my work ethic and began to be a bit more flexible with my time while still making sure that my employer gets 40 hours + worth.
I use distractions I would like to do as rewards for having finished my work. Hired to do a job- I do it, whether at home or onsite. Responsibility is learned in childhood, if fortunate to have parents who taught well and if not, when finished working, watch ‘Leave it to Beaver’ as although it’s fictional, it was based on factual lessons which hold true today. When distracted while you’re supposed to be doing your job, ask yourself, “What would Ward and June say to the Beav?”
This is one reason why companies push for RTO, and they should, most people need to be watched, unfortunately
Charlene Fila "Return to Office"
I play music or movie/tv shows I have already seen a bunch. Then when I really need to focus, I turn everything off.
My main office gets me distracted so easily...talking, phones going off, personal phones going off, gossip, problems etc....pretty sure I have adhd (i have other neurodivergent disorders etc) so I have one ear bud in so I can listen to music and my headset so I can block noise. My other office has minimum 3 people in the office per day incuding myself so I'm fine, we chat for 5-10 mins and then focus on work.
Do your job? Most times if you are working and focused on your job and the details involved.. you wouldn’t worry about your phone..
Try looking into getting a Brick (FSA/HSA eligible too)!
Well I’d share a link but last time it got reported so you’ll have to look it up lol. It’s a device/app that locks down your phone.
