Any tips on how to start and prepare my MBA Application? I don’t plan on applying till 2022 as I want to attend in 2023. What are things I can do to prepare now in order to have a strong application? Background: I’m aiming for HSW, M7, and top 15. I’m currently a Staff at EY within Business Consulting. I graduated from a Top 25 Business Undergrad - majoring in Finance and minor in Advertising with a 3.71 GPA. I want to pivot towards PM or Corporate Strategy in Tech, at Toyota, or Nike. TIA!

Yes, there's about 12 or so schools that you can go to - and get reimbursed for the MBA program. Need to commit to 2yr back at the firm post degree... Or pay pack pro-rated amount if you bounce early. "Strategy Scholars Program" This year and last were: Booth, Darden, Fuqua, Harvard, Kellogg, Ivey, Rotman, Sloan, Stanford, Ross, Johnson, Wharton, Tuck, INSEAD, LBS
MBA payback at ~12 schools to $100k
I'm not referring to a waste of education, I'm referring to waste of opportunity. Most people utilize MBA to launch career in a new direction (e.g. Consulting to Banking). If you plan to stay at same firm, it would be a wasted opportunity. To each his own
2 years is a small amount of time to get 100k back for a MBA. Exit opportunities when you do decide to leave get much more attractive.
E1 - Getting two years reimbursed from a top B school - being debt free - definitely doesn't seem like a waste to me. Sounds like a sweet deal!
If you get into GSAP which covers 50 schools then you get 2 years off of work with full tuition reimbursement after returning to Deloitte for 2 years post grad
I haven't seen a single situation where lack of MBA (or any grad degree for that matter) prevented upward movement within same firm. Could be limited insight on my part of course
Bain, full amount for top MBA programs, 2y payback
What @D1 said is true but keep in mind that you formally separate from the firm with an offer to return as a Senior Consultant after finishing your degree. During that time you take out loans and when you return to the firm Deloitte pays them off in the form of an annual bonus (half each year of the 2 year commitment). This bonus is taxed so you still pay a significant portion out of pocket. Just saying, not as sweet as it sounds...
Damn
At A1 what do you mean by MBA payback? At Accenture?
I didn't think Accenture offered any assistance
Why would you do MBA if you plan on going right back to same firm? Seems like a waste
Not sure E1, there's a handful of folks who do it here... Many analysts hired out of undergrad that are now C or Mgr, go back and move up to the senior roles. Worked with two people who have done it - seemed like they wanted to stay (one was 8yr and another 11yr tenure).
A1- Any idea if it's just for the MC side?
A3 - from what I have seen, AS and not MC (but I am not MC, so not fully sure what programs exist - sorry, can't be more helpful!!)
Try making that move from Accenture 2 years later vs straight from bschool. Much more difficult. Doesn't make it right, but that's reality
At ZS they pay back full amount of any b school (I think) as long as you a) get approved and b) commit to 3 years at the firm afterwards. It's prorated if you leave early. If someone one wants to stay at the firm, two years away at b school doesn't seem like a bad idea to me. I would certainly do it
Maybe. Depends on what you are trying to do. If you're trying to move industry, no issues. If you're trying to move into investment banking or MBB, then year, you're probably right.
