I’m a creativity researcher working on my dissertation on the psychology & neuroscience of creativity. I’m interested in understanding how different types of creative careers, side hustles, and artistic outlets relate to our emotions, mental health, & well-being. Ultimately to help build awareness, resources, & improve the lives of creative people.

What are your objectives? Public or private? Do you know people that work where you want to work?
I want to go private. Thanks for the pointers, I need to do my homework, I just didn’t know how to go about it,
Reaching out to a recruiter that does finance and accounting placement might not be a bad move. The recruiter will steer you towards placements that the recruiter has been contacted to fill or will get paid to fill but might also help you in finding a path forward. It’s up to you always in what comes next, no matter how pushy they can be.

If you are not currently employed then definitely use the ‘open to work’ option on LinkedIn (the one where only recruiters can see you are looking for work, not the public option). If you are currently employed then it may potentially be a risk to do this since recruiters from your own company can also theoretically see that you are open to work. Supposedly LinkedIn will not show that you are open to work to your current employer but you have to select your current employer from the LinkedIn drop-down in your experience section so that LinkedIn will know who to hide this from.
Even then though some companies can have multiple LinkedIn accounts and so it is still possible that a recruiter from your company may see that you are open to work. That being said, I’m not sure that even if a recruiter from your current company sees that you are open to work (when they are doing their own searches for talent) that this means that they will necessarily inform your manager of this. My guess is a lot of people leave this option on their profile as part of a passive search for other employment opportunities and it’s probably not necessarily a big deal.
This is very helpful thank you!
