Some hedge fund PMs can make 100M in good years
In the past, top PMs at global macro firms like brevan Howard etc could make this in good years. Nowadays rarer than previously, more common at quant funds to make this kind of money nowadays
Basically can only make this cash in funds with lots of money and high leverage strats
Andrew Hall worked for Vikram Pandit and made 100M in 2008
OP this is what I see. Large companies want narrow cookie cutter roles. This limits needing people with hard to find talent and limits pay (approx $200k salaries - tops here). As you move up and take on more responsibility you have a chance to make more $$ based upon your P&L performance and bonuses (and equity) become a much bigger portion of income than salary. Those who do the best consistently get the bigger $$$ roles that lead to the C level.
