Optimize across cards. CSR for travel and dining. A 1.5% cash back card for general purchases. Amazon prime card for obvious reasons. I'll get the instacart card soon too.
Usually the SUB are spend $5k-$50k, so I’ll use it for quarterly taxes if I don’t have renovations, repairs or a new property.
The chase trifecta are my go to cards - freedom for quarterly category spends, freedom unlimited for every day purchase as they get 1.5% back and then chase sapphire reserved for dining and travel. I also use the chase shopping portal for websites that give extra points per dollar for shopping via the portal. Once I’m ready to spend my points i pool them all isn’t the CSR account bc the points are worth more and book my travel.
I also have the Amex gold but I don’t utilize it often bc it has similar rewards to CSR and thinking about ditching it.
Can so relate to the feeling of realizing how much you could have saved / earned. But that’s part of the journey isn’t it 😂 My go to for travel the past year has been the Venture X too and it’s cut down significantly on full price costs. My favorite perk lately has been the “Cover Travel Purchases” feature where you get reimbursed. Last trip was all points - domestic, few thousand $ saved. If anyone else needs a working referral link, here’s mine: https://capital.one/3ZBevfi.
I never care about category spend. You get better ROI by opening new cards to get the sign-up bonus.
