Last Podcast on the Left- it’s great if you have a twisted sense of humor and enjoy the macabre.
In Our Time (BBC)- excellent for in depth historical discussions and more academic content.
Hardcore History- for when you really feel like running a nerd marathon (including, by way example and not limitation: a 23 hour-long history of the First World War.)
Ha - I’m a runner too (had some very good marathon outcomes), but don’t listen to anything when I run, but it makes for a more interesting commute, and since I listen to podcasts at 1.5-2.0x speed, I blow through these faster than the alloyed time.

BBC World News Service! Nothing like British accents to make my life feel fancy.
Crime Junkies because I’m a crime junkie and Office Ladies because I love The Office!
Love Crime Junkie!

This American Life and RadioLab are my two favorites. They are interesting but not related to my work and are generally light.
How I Built This, Lessons from a Quitter, Former Lawyer Podcast - I’m in the process of transitioning out of practice and they keep me motivated.
What area are you transitioning to?
Jocko Podcast - Great stories told by former members of the Special Operation teams (Seals, Rangers, MARSOC, etc.). Plus Jocko is a former Navy Seal and he has some great advice.

Whatever Happened to Pizza at McDonald’s? Because I need to know, why did they stop serving the wildly popular pizza menu item at McDonald’s nationwide?
I’ll let you know when I found out. New episodes each week!

You’re Wrong About, The Moth.
Two judgey girls. They talk about mid thirty woman stuff and then spend about an hour talking about bravo. It is my sanity escape

This sounds like my worst nightmare
Armchair expert. Love the mix of celeb and expert guests. Also love the newer “armed and dangerous” episodes exploring conspiracy theories with David Farrier who is just the best
The 9/11 one blew my mind, as that’s a corner of the internet I’ve had no desire to explore.
I have a regular schedule of NPR News Now, Up First, Short Wave, and the Daily in the morning, and Post Reports, the Journal, What Next and Consider This in the afternoon.
If I’ve got extra time, I like this American Life, Radio Lab, Slow Burn, the Jordan Harbinger Show, Stuff You Should Know, Criminal, and Amicus. I’ve recently stumbled across You’re Wrong About and Maintenance Phase, which I’m absolutely obsessed with, because they revisit so many issues of my millennial childhood that apparently were nothing like I understood them to be at the time. If I’m feeling super geeky, I like the We the People podcast from the National Constitution Center.
I’ll start. Aside from daily news podcasts (NPR Up First, WSJ, the Daily, Robinhood Snacks, etc.), I listen to a lot of comedy podcasts like Tiger Belly, Your Mom’s House, 2 Bears 1 Cave, and Bad Friends. I find them to be a nice break from reality and enjoy their conversational as opposed informative nature.
JRE
Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend -hilarious and he has OG comedians as guests like Ray Romano, Jim Carey. Why Won’t You Date Me by Nicole Byer - funny, trashy, there’s a lot of comedians as guests.
How Did This Get Made? and Behind the Bastards, because you gotta laugh at other people’s terrible decisions.
For more parochial interests: a bunch of soccer/basketball and lefty political stuff, because sometimes my blood pressure is too low. (It it not. Why do I do this to myself?)
Up First, This American Life, The Moth, and random Wondery series
