That depends what you want to do with your time. If you're looking forward pursuing cultural interests, you may want to live somewhere that's not known for being cheap. If you don't care about culture and you're more interested in scenery, a cheaper option would make sense. I'd like to retire where I'd have access to major cities, so someplace in Europe would suit me. I've seen enough beaches and could never see enough museums.

This is going to vary so much on personal preferences and budgets.
Depends on what you are looking for: good lifestyle in a slightly cheaper country where if you want you can integrate, Portugal. Low cost and easy access to the US, but likely in an expat enclave, central america.
Nigeria
I don’t have an answer but I was recently in San Miguel, Mexico for work and it was beautiful. I heard there’s a large expat community there.
Heading there in 2 weeks for a 10 day vacation. I think it’s getting relatively expensive but we’ll see

If you are a dual citizen, then you have another option open.
If you have family in another country, that also opens the door.
If you speak another language, that could make your life easier there.
Ease of moving would likely be Mexico. There are large expat enclaves.
California has retirement towns like Laguna Woods, and a dedicated section in Mission Viejo. I’ll never go oversees. I like to be safe even if I am not paying attention.
