Step 1: Walk back across the bridge you crossed over when you accepted the new role.
Step 2: Pour gasoline over bridge as you return.
Step 3: Burn bridge to the ground.
Step 4: Enjoy your me opportunity and don't look back.
One of my friends did that two months in. A place where she had been trying to get in finally called that an unexpected opportunity opened up, she interviewed and got an offer. She went and told the current and still very new agency how she didn't expect these circumstances but there's been an offer she just can't pass up and how sorry she was. She gave 3 (three) weeks notice and left. They really tried to make her stay and they really liked her but they weren't nasty about it (they also couldn't pay the newer salary she was getting. She was very apologetic about it, etc. If you're genuine, it shows. And if you're not working with Assholes, you'll be OK. It's unpleasant, but hey, at will employment in the U.S. works both ways, and your agency got a competitor who wants you.
If I were your better/new opportunity, I'd just be waiting until you did that to me.

Ouch
SP1 - totally agree.
Just don't give it the ol' Irish goodbye, and your bridges should be fine.
⬆ This made me laugh as I remembered reading this recently, very funny and true:
