If you don't get upgraded, ask them for vada paav
I will, thanks for your idea Trump.
So you're looking for a complimentary upgrade? Probably <1%
Complimentary upgrades only possible if economy is overbooked. Use a GPU, miles or $ if you want to upgrade
Are any of the US based airlines good for long haul? I get the need for points but is a 14 hour flight on a US airline worth it? Happy to hear thoughts in both economy and business
Miles? Or money?
You won’t get upgraded due to status on an international flight. You’ll have to use a GPU (assuming you booked a certain fare class) or use the miles + money option.
GPU has higher priority than miles...they both clear into the same fare class
Paid for my flight ticket, didn’t use my miles. But want to use my miles for upgrade provided that it’s not possible to get the upgrade.
Gotcha, I will better use my points.
GPU on Mumbai /Delhi to Newark flights rarely work. Forget it if you are fare class W or below. Use your miles to upgrade.
P1 ...Yes, you can forget about it if you’re lower than W bc it literally won’t let you apply the GPU.
D3 I fly UA for these long hauls for Global Services and/or lifetime miles. But you’re right, you’re often better off doing international carriers if your priority is service/comfort
I’ve been using that flight for the past 5 years. Your chances are 0. They don’t do first/business upgrades on that flight
