Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.
So here are my questions.
How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.
When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.
Thanks in advance!
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Dedicated office with Netflix ready to go.
Haha this was taken by a realtor photographer, guessing they used a wide angle lense.
Thinking about upgrading from the kitchen table
Still furnishing. Built myself.
Apologies, the only pic of my office has this silly bottle of bourbon in the way
Whoa. A Van Winkle Family Reserve. That's awesome.
Dell Ultrawide
1. Wide enough desk
2 Comfortable leather chair with swivel
3. Dedicated laptop and iPhone charger
4. Room to pace when on calls
5. Bring a large jug of water in the office in the morning and make sure you finish before EOD
I feel like furniture manufacturers don’t understand the necessity of a wide-enough desk.
Invest in a nice chair, the rest is whatever. There's a reason even cheap companies buy their office workers $500+ chairs
I have one wall in my home office painted with whiteboard paint. Amazeballs
Yes, floor to ceiling. But my kids are in their 20’s so will probably stand to draw
White balance is weird
Nice chair. I have an Embody.
Work from bed.
I also work from bed. Much more comfortable then desk
Highly recommend an upgrade. Starter kit would be desk, 1-2 monitors, cords that can stay, mouse. My dream house would have a bad ass conference call speaker system (sad hah)
I bought a Husky adjustable workbench from Home Depot for $230. Pulled off the plastic logo and boom, instant sit/stand desk on a budget. Also supports 500+lbs, fwiw. Dual 27” LG low-profile bezel monitors, cords that serve as a dock (for both personal and work laptops), and a nice desk chair. Personal preference plays a big role, but lots of good suggestions here
Did the same thing - husky + 2 27’s. Bar stool for sitting and perfect height for standing
How many openings do you have for consultants?
Yeah... I need to work on the white wall and some decorating but it’s functional!
Those tissues 👀👀
I had a dedicated bedroom for many years, but when my wife went back to work she took that over for her WFH job.
I’ve been relegated to the basement, and I have a standing desk with a pad to stand in and a standing desk compatible chair. Large screens, full size ergonomic keyboard and mouse. Much better setup than when I travel.
We renovated our house and made a new master suite, so the old master suite (simple bedroom and bathroom) became my office. Was really nice to be able to go to the bathroom without running into the kids who would want to play.
But now I travel less and don't need a home office.
Same as at client or hotel. Any table/chair. Travel laptop, cell, Bluetooth speakerphone. Wireless printer/scanner. Yes live in NYC.
