What’s your hourly rate? I’m a 6th year big law associate looking to go solo and trying to gauge statistics. Is there somewhere I can find average prices people charge/clients pay? Or any helpful resources in this regard at all? Will be doing commercial real estate. TIA!

Google helps for a state average. And it just depends how many clients you want to take on, if you want a lot of work. Obviously less expensive means you appeal to more people.

Southern California. I charge $400 and my partner charges $500. The average for the state is $425, last I checked.
When we first started we barely charged $200! But we needed to bring in clients fast and low hourly helped. We increased every year. We’ve grandfathered in repeat clients so in some cases we still charge $300 but they’ve been with us for 4 years so we respect the relationship.

Hi fishes, during my discussion with HR, they mentioned that bonus (approx 25% of base salary) is part of PwC salary structure. Now in the offer letter it is mentioned "you may be eligible for bonus from time to time". I mentioned the expected fixed based on this information provided by HR. However if I don't get bonus, my salary will be much lower. Does PwC provide bonus details in offer letter? If not, can I renegotiate the initial offer? PwC PwC India

Hi everybody,

Looking for some insight/curious to hear how others would handle this situation:

I have an offer I want to accept; I was trying to negotiate for a signing bonus… but they’re not budging.

The issue is, the start date is in a month and I’m up for a promotion in a week at my current company. I would like to leave before I get promoted, I think it would be pretty low of me to accept and promptly quit.

Not the new employer’s problem? Or can/should I try to leverage this?
