Have you always given two weeks notice, or do you dip ASAP?

Depends on the job. In the US all employment is employment at will. While you may have an agreement that requires a specific period, it isn’t really enforced. Also, some employees will just dismiss you say of notice, depending on your role and other factors.

Someone on my team (staff, not a freelancer) quit with 1 day's notice over Slack. Badass move but it did raise a few eyebrows.

like

You better have another job lined up, they r gonna fire you if you give that notice...then they will make you ineligible for unemployment benefits unless you can prove you left over harassment, discrimination, etc, and that takes money and a ton of time...just get another job and be ready for them to play dirty...all companies do. .

I always do the courtesy 2-weeks. But I have been shown the door same day. So, I give the 2 weeks and plan for same day.

They don't hesitate to term you, so why should you hesitate to quit?

Hello everyone. I am looking to transition into the medical writing field, but I don’t seem to have the right type of experience. I have technical writing experience, but I don’t have experience with clinical studies or clinical trials. Does anyone have any advice on how I can gain more experience in this field? I am pursuing the AMWA Essential Skills certificate and am working on a master degree, but any other information would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve heard salaries have gone up quite a bit in the midst of the pandemic and I’m wondering if this is true for EAs as well. There’s a myriad of data online about EA salaries depending on age/experience but I’m interested in salaries from jobs accepted in 2020/2021 specifically!

Please feel free to share:

- Your salary from any job accepted in 2020/2021
- Any offers you may have received but rejected
- Your length of experience

Thank you!

I see a lot of Jr. Level folks (myself included) in this bowl asking about certain finance exit opps like MM IB and PE etc.

At some point is the comp that much better?

From Big4 Transparency: S1/MCOL/2YOE/FDD making $97k. Managers MCOL close to $150k.

very Selective jobs( MF PE and BB IBs) kinda blow these numbers out of the water... but for the more attainable exits like MM IB and and corporate development... considering wlb and pay, is the grass much greener?

Thoughts?

I was in the office (pre-c19) on the Friday after thanksgiving so I could get some stuff done while it was empty. A peer Director was also there and asked me for help with something. I helped him a for while, then he said, “this is really helpful, I have to go to an all team meeting for 30 minutes, but could we finish after that?” Me: “an all team meeting today?” Him: “yeah, I always schedule an all team meeting on days like this so people can’t pretend to wfh when they are really on pto.” smh 🤦‍♂️

Thoughts on “special” salary grades. I just found out the VP I was offered is not a grade 12 like most comparable roles (verified). Also not an 11, but an 11A. Slightly higher than an 11, a good bit lower than a 12. All due to the fact that it’s a leap from my current position. Why should that matter…..shouldn’t it pay what it should pay if I am selected, rather that curving down towards my current rate?
