When applying for jobs, do companies/firms/recruiters find out the details of why you left your last role? In my case, I was on a contract that was a terrible fit, left the contract and ended up being put on a PIP, and despite crushing the PIP, was unable to land another internal role at my firm. I voluntarily resigned before the end of the PIP on purpose so it’d be voluntary. Will recruiters/background checks for other firms be able to find out the details of why I left?

It is absolutely insane to me how recruiter ghosting is acceptable in the world of working professionals.

I don’t care how busy they are. They seem to respond really promptly to all of my emails, but the second I am no longer of use to them, they’re too busy to fire off a ten word email.

Sending one more email letting me know that I’m not being considered for a position does not take long.

And after I took time out of my day to interview, it is the absolute least they can do.

I finished a third round interview, and HR contacted me that afternoon saying I had positive feedback across the board and they would contact me the next day regarding next steps. It’s been two days and they finally get back to me saying they haven’t been able to sync with the hiring manager but will keep me posted. Honestly I wish they would talk with the hiring manager and then let me know the decision instead of checking in. It’s messing with my emotions.

Booz Allen does not pay bonuses until you get to the Senior Associate level (1 step below Director) and I think that impacts employee performance and work ethic pretty dramatically.
