I've been finding a lot of success and growth switching jobs every 3 or so years. I don't really find any good reasons to stick around much longer than that if you don't have to. I've been able to land at least a 15% raise anytime that I've switched jobs. It sure beats the meager 2-3% adjustment that they like to give yearly.

I may have to embrace the every 2-3 years idea. I’ve always been taught that’s not the way to do it but the data consistently says otherwise. Thanks.
It doesn’t really pay to stick around at any one place anymore, so that isn’t a bad way to think about it. Some of the biggest upward jumps in my career have come from going to a different place. I think it gives a lot of experience in how other places operate too.

I didn’t think about the idea of taking experience from other places. Great point.
I call them tour of duties. lol. And, same.
Up or out after that. My salary has to keep abreast of inflation.
Companies aren’t loyal and look at their bottom line so why should I be any different, ESPECIALLY as a minority?

All good points. Very true.
I think about what job I want next after starting a new job lol. Max 2 years at my current job
Every 2-3 years, probably tending more towards 3 so there’s some stability shown on a resume, is what I’ve always heard. It’s also what I’ve seen works best for people I know in real life.
