If you're not satisfied with what they offer you, don't wait - especially if it's below market rate. Make it known you want more (with receipts).
Even if they're unable to give it to you then, they'll know you're looking for more when reviews come along. Often, by the time reviews start, raises have been budgeted, and it's a bit a harder to come up from whatever they offer (in my experience).
That makes sense to just keep them aware of what my expectations are. I have brought it up in passing conversations, so it should be an easier conversation as long as they are understanding. And I’m still satisfied with my current salary, so it’s not like it will be a make or break deal.
