I'm lateraling to another firm because frankly I think the management of this one is terrible, but the people (and individual partners) I actually work with are awesome. I've only been here for about 18 months, so I imagine that short time frame will make it extra awkward 😬

There is a partner that, without fail, calls on Fridays after 6pm anytime I am staffed with him. It’s extremely frustrating since his calls are usually non-urgent and I make it a point to check in early in the day to address anything. Any advice?

What does everyone wear for client meetings in a WFH setting

I’m my partners only associate and I went on parental leave two weeks ago. I feel horrible for leaving him to handle our cases alone, but am trying to focus on my wife and new baby. That being said, should I still offer to handle minor matters that come in to ease the workload off my boss? He’s been super cool during my entire leave, so I don’t feel pressured to one bit.

The "confrontation" is really difficult for me lol. I actually like my current boss and she's been helpful and made me feel like she looks out for me too. It’s really frustrating when you get staffed on a project for your “industry expertise”, yet the manager with 0 industry experience, continues to ignore your suggestions.

How do you handle these situations without coming across as combative? There is always rework and my original suggestions are eventually considered after several deliverable reviews & revisions.

I’ve been at a job a year and have what I would call a very toxic manager. When I first started they were very nasty to me making comments about my appearance, my character and other inappropriate and mean things. I let them know how this made me feel and they stopped however I continue to notice how manipulative and condescending they are. My mental health is at a low. I signed for a new job two months ago and will start next month (3 mo notice period in Europe). They were very keen on getting me on-board ASAP before signing but since I signed the contract it has been silent from the new employee.
