I'm sure this issue is with early 20s millennials. They not only talk more than required in meetings, but also lack attention to detail. I'm dealing with one right now. Not to forget leaving early meaning around 5 is a given with new millennial hires.
So what are you going to do on Monday? Are you a Manager?
Holy shit, literally how I felt today. People don't take ownership of their work nowadays
I wanna know what happened!
I'd sit down with them and explain to them that when you ask for work, you need to actually do it and not wait until the last minute to pass it to someone else. Explain to them that in the real world, work doesn't end at 5pm. It ends when you finish the work you're expected to finish.
But don't forget that they did this- they lost your trust and it'll take time to earn it back.
That project review or whatever they're called these days is gonna suck for them!
Some kind of conversation is called for. The kids need to learn /that accountability is a critical skill anywhere they work.
Op, what did you do?
Wow. That needs fixing if the story is well represented
Teachable moment. At least they stepped up to the plate right?
For those wondering what happened... this was Fri afternoon so I ended up jumping in, staying late and mopping up the mess given it was a time sensitive deliverable 😑 (they went offline since we were remote) 😑😑 dont ask for ownership if you cant handle it!
Not a manager, SA only and haven't decided exactly what to do yet (if anything) but suggestions are welcome haha. so far just dealt with it and accepted the fact that people are ridiculously unreliable sometimes but just have to build a bridge and get over it rather than making it a huge deal 🤔
P1, you sound ridiculous
These are tanks stakes. Maybe I should ask them if they need help wiping, too.
*table stakes
He needs to know that this will impact his snapshot and he is not even remotely close to being graded as "at partially next level".
^true. If your SC/manger does hinge right, they'll probably go to you for feedback as well on the analyst
