When you do know that it’s time to leave your role ? Granted with this job market it’s going to be so hard and take a long time to find a role…

When you’re not busy & your billables are crap; I started a role a year & half ago; it was difficult from the start but said to myself as long as iam getting work& can bill, I can put up with the rest; well that’s dried up; most males in my team, two females; all in their 50s/60s; all been in the company 20+ years; all hoarding the work; the market is hard but I rather start submitting my resume now than waiting for performance review; plus I hate my team anyways; I stayed up until 4am last Sunday just to submit/apply for jobs; two interviews this week; I figured if the market is hard then I would plan in advance;

Job market is very challenging right now, even if you have many years of legal experience. It's time to leave a job if you are either disrespected, do not believe in your boss or the firm's goals or they attempt to cut your salary. Remember, human resources is not your friend and they are not there to help you, not matter what they say. They only for the firm's best interest. Good luck.

Or when you come back from a short medical leave and they stop giving you work, disrespect you and tell you that your performance has suffered due to health distractions, and take away your accommodations and finally give you an ultimatum about personal matters they have no business advising you.

Additional Posts in Paralegals

Fried Frank reached out to me about an open senior real estate paralegal position they have in NY, and at first I wasn’t looking to move from my current firm, but then we talked salary (a nearly 50% raise) and now I’m willing to listen a little bit more. What are people’s thoughts on Fried Franks Real Estate team in NY?

I started working for a new law firm, much larger than the firm I was working for previously. The main attorney that I work under had noticed some mistakes I was making (I am a NY paralegal who took this position with the understanding that they’d be teaching me NJ and NYC real estate). Anyways, the attorney decided to tell the HR manager about the mistakes I had been making. Rather than HR discussing with me, the manager told my dramatic coworker to tell me..how should I handle this? Very hurt!

My boss (atty) is so disorganized! I’ve been with him 6 months and he’s having a hard time delegating, sharing info and managing deadlines. I’ve organized the caseload to manage the deadlines. He says he wants me to help with discovery but when I offer to start on one, he says he needs to do it. (Since he might have to present as evidence) When I give him deadlines and ask for the docs he says he’ll get to it. It’s a small 1 man firm, and I’m the first assistant besides his wife. Any advice?
