When you FIRE, do you plan on getting a part time job or starting a side business to occupy your time? I kinda want to be a bar tender just to have some fun, you know? Note: I know that wouldn’t be retiring early technically but you get the point.

I’m thinking about doing a job related to my hobbies/ passions, e.g. working in a watch store cause I like watches. But I have the feeling that it can turn into an unpleasant obligation rather quickly which would basically take away your hard earned freedom.

I feel the same way, but if it start to feel like that then the beauty of FI is you can quit without worrying! So your hard earned freedom wins again!

How concerned are you about inflation? We have 70% savings rate and 50% of our expenses are housing / utilities of which the largest part is rent which is a fixed contract (no CPI escalation, no automatic increases, paying same rent for 4 years). No car as we are living in a large city. So if I look at the components of CPI and what’s rising I am feeling pretty „good“ about it. The one thing I am „worried“ is asset inflation but obviously that benefits me directly. What am I missing?

Probably the antithesis of this bowl - but need some advice. This is for a house in a Southern metro. Built in 1960s completely remodeled in 2000s with some very recent additional remodeling of kitchen and bathrooms. Well kept house. The price will be nearly $1M, the same as something built in 2010+ with similar square footage (because a lot of the price is the lot, its a super expensive zip). Should I steer clear because of the age? Will it cost a ton in maintenance and utility bills?
