If you’re actually concerned you’re being paid under market value, much better is to get an offer elsewhere and let your company make a choice

Our firm does a periodic analysis of pay against peer companies, which is then shared with team members. It provides some high level direction, but given there are regional differences based upon location, it provides ranges that allow you to understand the pay band which you fall. Your specific salary discussion and where you are in a regional band is discussed during annual compensation discussions with a Partner.

Back in 2015, my manager told me the analysis was happening and there’s a good chance my salary would be adjusted. I advocated for many others to ask and by 2017, over half of my close peers were told they’d been paid under market value and were getting an increase. That was my reason for asking - is this happening at all organizations or just a few thoughtful ones here and there?
