Progressive for the last 6 years. I check price every 6 months and no one has beat them in my area. Usaa pretty expensive now sadly
We compare our rates from USAA periodically but no one is ever able get close to what we pay for everything.
Same here. I pay $170/mo for a 2021 Telluride (full coverage) and a 2006 Kia (liability) which I thought was ridiculous. Then Allstate quoted me $320 and I’m like bro wtf?? San Antonio market
I’ve had Geico for a while
Moved to Progressive for auto.
Buddy is my insurance agent, saved me a ton switching from USAA. When I left USAA auto after like 15 years I got a bunch of money back too that was membership related.
It’s not a bad idea when you have enough assets to talk to a real agent who shops around providers (Brightway is like that in my area). He’s saved me a ton on auto, homeowners (big deal in FL), and my umbrella.
Life insurance for me and my wife USAA still won on 20 year term by a good amount, especially for her.
Use a broker and have them search for the best deals. Saves me thousands a year and I’m not stuck with one company.

I was loyal to USAA for a decade. They’re no longer competitive for insurance so I switched to progressive and saved 40% overall
Remember, saving money isn’t always better than having good coverage and service. But if you’re comparing apples to apples, of course, saving monies the best, especially these days.
While coverage terms are reasonably consistent across insurers you at the mercy of their customer service and internal processes. If my house burns down the difference between providing funds immediately and taking days or weeks to process claims is enormous.
I had all state for a little bit and they were much cheaper than USAA, then they stopped servicing my area and I switched back to USAA. I know USAA is considerably more expensive right now, but I have a complex situation so I am stuck with them for another year. I will say State Farm was slightly cheaper and just as good service, all state was much cheaper.
Your employer might offer a group home & auto voluntary employee benefit which might be worth looking at. Can also potentially have the premiums automatically deducted from your pay & remitted to carrier.
Key word MIGHT be worth looking at.
I switched to progressive back in 2010. At the time it was cheaper. Quoted USAA a year ago and found out the prices are a bit more for me. I'm still with progressive.
USAA might be more expensive but I have always been impressed by claim servicing. They always seem in a rush to get me money and resolve any issues with repairs. I have had maybe a dozen claims between house, auto and personal property over last 40 years and never had a problem. I buy insurance so in case something happens, it is taken care of well. If you don’t qualify for USAA then Amica.
Chief
I had to use USAA twice cuz my duplex neighbors kept flooding my unit. Claims adjuster was in Puerto Rico for like 3 months so I had to keep calling them to get things moving since they had no recourse to move it to someone else. Absolute nightmare. When I moved, they decided I was “uninsurable due to past claims” despite no fault. USAA is a bag of dicks after being helmed by this latest management crew.
Texas Farmers Insurance for auto. You have to pay. Yearly membership, but the insurance and benefits you get with it are well worth it.
