Who has the best 401k match and bonus out there?

Not going to make partner at Guidehouse and I’m mid 30s. Need to make the most of the next 10 years

Is anyone making partner at GH anymore? Seems like the money is going to the PE firm now

like

Are you planning on staying in public sector consulting?

Also some thoughts:

Our wealth builder plan acts like a 401k match, and is better, IMO, than the cash balance pension plans offered by EY, Deloitte, and KPMG because it offers market returns instead of just a guaranteed cash value that keeps pace with inflation (which you can still get through one of our funds if that’s what you’re into). Their 401k match itself is the same as what we offer

Since the wealth builder contribution changes by staff level, these are the match percentages to beat when you look at potential new employers:

SA: 5.5%
Manager: 6.5%
Director: 9.5%

401k wise? Smaller contractors. There’s one I know of that contributes 10% with no match required, they automatically contribute that much. Capital One also has a pretty good retirement plan. Can’t remember the specifics of it

like

If you didn't contribute anything you still get 3%

Guidehouse - what do you mean by guaranteed cash v. Market returns? Most if not all 401k match involves contributions based off of a % of salary. E.g. 10% Match for 100k = 10K contribution. Can you explain?

like

Cash Balance pension plans are defined benefit plans that guarantee a certain cash amount based on years of service and salary.

The wealth builder plan that we have is a defined contribution plan that doesn’t guarantee a benefit because we get to choose where the investments go. It acts exactly like a 401k match in that regard.

Thank you. That does sound different from matching a percentage of salary as mentioned above. Interesting

Hi Fishes,

I received an offer (28 Lakhs + 3.9 Lakhs incentive) from Novartis for Sr Project Manager yesterday. This was just 13.6% more than my current earnings as Project Manager. I've given the reasons why I deserve at least 30% to HR. In response to that, HR has sent 2nd offer i.e. 29 Lakhs + 4 Lakhs incentive + 50k sign-on bonus. The 2nd offer is just 18.2% higher than my current earnings. Need your suggestion, if I could still negotiate with HR to finalize deal by asking for 25% hike?

Looking for advice! I was approved to work remotely but my salary will decrease 10%. I received two raises so the decrease brings me down to my previous salary. I was told that it’s due to the cost of labor in the area.

I’ve been with my company for 8+ yrs, I love my manager and the work I do (engagement, recognition, & wellness programs) but I feel like I’m limiting myself since I have the experience, an HRM degree, and SHRM-CP credentials.

Do Leidos, SAIC, and other mostly-fed consulting businesses pay bonuses to all levels? If so, what does a typical bonus target look like? Booz Allen does not pay bonuses until you get to the Senior Associate level (1 step below Director) and I think that impacts employee performance and work ethic pretty dramatically. I’m wondering if not paying bonuses is common to federal contracting because of how the contracts or priced, or if this is something unique to Booz Allen.
