Didn't take any breaks and strongly wish I did!
I had a gap of two years. I have to take a break and work so my older sister can finish her degree so she can help me with mine. I never felt that it was a wrong decision and I never had regrets because it was a purely voluntary decision that I made. So happy of the outcome though.
Took a gap year between high school and college. I worked two part time jobs and then backpacked across SE Asia for 6 months. No regrets as I knew I was headed to college and when you start working corporate, sabbaticals are not guaranteed nor are PTO days.
Most adults are only concerned if you take a gap year and become a ‘bum’ of sorts. My dad didn’t really understand it (very American) and my mum is not American and highly encouraged it so off I went with my gap year with minimal fuss.
I would take a gap year and travel for a good part of it, but also work to try to save money. Put yourself in a position where you have some savings/assistance to pay for your school but also enjoy the free time while you can!
