I’m smart, get things done, self motivated. however I’ve hit career ceilings because I’m incapable of schmoozing, playing office politics, aligning myself with people who can boost my career. It’s just not in me. But I haven’t come to terms with it. Every time I go on LinkedIn, I see some idiot I used to work with has been promoted or jumped ship to some very senior role and it kills me inside because I know that I’m far more capable and yet will never make the same money.

What do you see as most attractive exit ops in Europe? In the US, everything is about Tech/FAANG, but it seems way less attractive in Europe (less strategic roles, comp. seems much lower than in the US, very centralized around London/Dublin).

Hi, this is a bit early but thought y’all might have some good insight. I’m exiting my current startup & have two offers on the table 1. A successful small startup in NYC doing PE/niche executive recruiting and 2. a fairly reputable PE consulting group in Austin. I’m going through the recruitment process at McKinsey for a middle/back office role (capabilities for a really cool space) but by the time I hear back, one of my offers won’t be on the table. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" I have a large team and after me, I have a supervisor and a manager who my supervisor reports to. The manager recently got promoted to director & my boss is likely to take her role within the next 6 mos.

I was promoted in aug and wondering if it’s crazy to ask for another promo after my boss gets manager. This wouldn’t be for 6-12mos & I will be in my role for close to a year.

The agent said the construction there is now mostly just facade work on the top so it's not noisy any more, but I don't 100% buy that.
