Behind most onboarding processes and tasks, there is a horror story of someone causing enough problems to merit onboarding steps be created to protect the company.
Thank the people who came before whose legacy of chaos echoes into eternity.
You make a great point, if someone's first days in a company are spent watching warnings against every possible infraction, it just sets a very weird tone. It must have been great way back when. My grandfather would talk about how you could walk down to the factory gate and apply for a job and be working that afternoon. No prolonged orientation, just told here's what you do, make sure you don't screw it up.

Totaly agreed !
I agree with this. The onboarding my company does is AWFUL. There was someone literally sleeping through it when I came to this company myself. People do get bored and their excitement does fade.
We have inductions that last 3 hours max. We understand how boring it is so only do the necessary and follow up with separate training sessions.
I am interested in hearing more about this. Is the onboarding process at your organization packed with too much information? If anything, I've encountered situations where new employees are left with insufficient information, and organizations have needed to retool their onboarding programs.
