To be honest I'm interested in hearing that than 90% of what people usually post
For people who don't have everything on a golden plate and come from really poor backgrounds and achieve something is better than winning the presidency in my opinion. I know off so many people who have succeeded against all odds and made it into schools/companies a lot of us walk into because of being born in families that can afford everything
Well isn't that kind of the exact reason on what LinkedIn should be used for?
Agreed with DD. I'm also really happy to see my friends and family progress in life.
I'd rather see this on my feed/wall than the 1000+ pictures of their kids
I have friend who was the first generation after their family moved out from refugee camp in the other part of the world. I never seen as dedicated and hard working person in my life. From learning the languages to coping upto his peers he struggled a lot. But when I see him today sitting with me in same firm, same position I just feel privileged to be his friend (we met in a cultural exchange program) and I am really proud for him. And yes I loved to see his progression in linkedin throughout!!
It's automatically posted to your timeline if you update any aspect of "about me" on FB.
SC I get that 100%, I guess I meant more the people that I know are doing it for the humblebrag attention, and the circle jerk that ensues.
A bit emotional for Sunday night I guess!!
No I am happy to see my friends progressing.. I don't have people on Facebook that I don't know or care about.
I never post anything job related on Facebook because I have family members that will beg for money., but I will update my LinkedIn because that's partially what it's there for.
As A2 said, these updates are automatic when you update your profile, both on FB and LinkedIn. Chill out.
Who cares? If you're happy for them, congratulate or like, if not, just ignore. How hard is that? The fact that you felt the need to put a post up here to complain it makes you seem real bitter
Sour grapes, maybe?
Some of us use LinkedIn as a business tool (gasp) and we get to see where people move to as they progress their careers when they share those posts...which I like and am not annoyed by in the least.

Nothing is automatic. You have option for not publishing to world
Bad opinion - OP that's a 15 yard penalty, repeat 1st down
OP I get what you're saying. Period of time, all 30 friends of mine announced their new jobs out of college on 900 different platforms lol
When they graduate from school and establish a linked in account for their first professional job, linked in automatically sends out a notification- just like it does when we put a change in position. They aren't bragging.
