Like it here a lot and the folks I work with do as well. Op what group are you looking at?
Deloitte to EY and the culture is the difference. Deloitte wants every hour they can get out of you. EY limits hours to 45/wk and has never asked me to stay on a Friday or fly Sunday. Generally EY wants you to be successful at your pace.
What about the sexism?
Layoffs bruh
I’ve heard from many who have transferred to D from other big 4, and the overwhelming consensus is that D is by far the most cutthroat and has the worst WLB
Toxic culture. Knives out. Maybe it was just my practice
It pays the bills 🤷♂️. Same 💩 as other consulting firms that you have to put up with
D3 spittin' straight facts right here.
I like it ish. However, want to change the group I’m aligned to
You like it if you got a nice rating recently. If not you don’t like it... it’s the epitome of carrot and stick...
Big D does not have ratings, but your hike and promotion is based on how much you are liked by the leadership.
I recently left D, primarily for one reason - the performance review process is super opaque and results in hitting your compensation absurdly; and it has only gotten worse over the years.
So if you think they are giving you a good bump in the offer, evaluate the comp assuming it grows ~3-4% overall (base + bonus) average YOY, for the next 4 years. If it still feels lucrative go for it.
I think it has more to do with the leadership culture. Servant leadership, and rewarding people for the right actions/culture is a thing of the past. People seem to be moving up based on their networks and loyalty to leaders. Staff have sensed the difference from having leaders invested in the organizations success to leaders focused on their own success. Leaders say the right things but don’t follow through with actions.
Servant leadership? Where does that exist.
Bc the gingham is too much
It’s not Deloitte- it’s the people
My friend got laid off a month after he got promoted. From an outsider perspective, that was a telling sign (for me at least) of the culture and how much it valued people. But I agree with others that the brand remains strong among non consulting folks
I left D after more than 7+ years with a mix of London and New York, I can probably say the reason I left was because of the upward trajectory in my group was horrible (3-5years as SC) as well as the WLB (project+bids+white paper requirements) was horrible
Deloitte = sweat shop
I had an offer from D but declined because most I met were super arrogant.
I think the op model shift changed how people feel or don’t feel connected to the firm. Sector allegiance/alignment runs up against offering and offering portfolio metrics and were still working out the kinks in this new matrix.
