I'm curious what the average salary is for an Associate Agent. I'm licensed & do everything after the sale is made as well as refer new business. I have 14 years in the industry but have been at the current company less than a year, so I know that plays a part as well. Anyone in a like-position by chance?State Farm Allstate Travelers

Don’t be a manager.
I would have to agree. Especially a manager that is expected and encouraged to practice and model Servant Leadership. I bet money that most (if not all) if the respondents who complain about interruptions are the same coworkers who would complain to management that they are 'unheard' or 'under appreciated' when their own questions are deflected so casually. It also would never occur to them that their inability or lack of desire to be a strong mentor or teammate could be a big consideration for the lack of promotion or an 'average' rating on their annual review. It is too easy to blame 'politics' or 'favoritism' rather than taking ownership for the lack of leadership that they demonstrate.
So as a manager that is your complaint? Maybe your representative did not know it would take longer than a few minutes or maybe you need to set guidelines or encourage your representatives to assist each other with whatever....
People often shy away from asking for assistance due to this type of attitude. Part of your job is to assist those who report to you with skill development within their position and empowerment to make decisions. if they are failing at that, it is a reflection or your ability to manage. Maybe set up an open question time that isn't necessary to attend, but allows them to ask questions.
Maybe encourage them to network with others on and off of your team by asking what is the question is about and point them to someone that can help.
That is exactly why I usually don't ask. I research.
Lol
If it is a question that requires additional research or attention, then obviously it was a necessary and good question to ask. I will take those any day of the week. The only questions I find challenging are the same questions asked over and over by the same co-worker as a way to cover their proverbial behind in case the 'guessed' the incorrect solution and need a scapegoat.
And 30 minutes later that “quick question” becomes 10 questions because they now have you on the call and it’s fair game to ask you all the other questions they need answers for lol smh
I always ask that before calling someone on teams!!
I get one of those a day from a team that isn't even supposed to be reading out to me directly.
