I used to feel this way, but after getting sober, I came to realize that drinking wasn't actually a priority for most attendees most events. Sure, there are always going to be heavy drinkers to surround oneself with to help mask one's own excesses, bit the majority come for the conversation, networking, and meal.
At my very first sober event, I took note of the folks that weren't drinking or had just one cocktail or glass of wine, it was the majority. I wasn't the first person to leave, nor have I ever felt pressured to drink or made fun of for not drinking. Just the opposite, actually. I've had a handful of genuine and caring conversations with people about why we dont drink, and almost as many chats with heavy drinkers who seem to have a sincere curiosity about how I don't drink.

Well said.
I went from thinking: “EVERYONE IS GOING TO NOTICE IM NOT DRINKING ANS JUDGE ME!”
To knowing: “Nobody gives a hoot about what’s in my glass”.
This is a myopic view. Sure, people don’t drink may feel excluded in that sense. But there’s ways around it. I just drink club soda and use the time to socialize outside of executing work.
Yup. Similar. I used to be a heavy drinker. Recently stopped and it’s actually inflicted others to slow down as well. I think being around people and chatting in a loud place is sort of a high of its own. Don’t really need the drinking
