Why is it so hard to land a marketing job at a pharma/biotech.

Hello All! I’m strongly considering a management position with Penn Medicine. I would love some feedback. I left my last company because of work/life balance. It’s essential for me. Is the money worth it? Any help would be appreciated.

Any consulting -> Tech sales people out there? Curious how consulting experience is perceived both from a compensation and placement standpoint in the tech world…? What should my expectation be? For context — I SDR’d as a senior in college and was promoted to AE right as I took a BA offer from McKinsey. Wanted to get broad exposure & become a more analytical problem solver… dont regret my decision at all but really loved sales and would like to get back around my 2-3 yr mark.

What inspired you to start on the career you've chosen?

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate so much and feel very lucky to have a job BUT I am losing all the energy and excitement regardles of the project. Every day I struggle with going back to this consulting work. I just don't have the energy to focus (this is not the case for other things and side hustles). I manage to keep it down and deliver but I fear it's a matter of time until I fail. Trying to find an exit/job but had 1 interview in 3 months. I feel trapped and guilty for feeling this.

It is true that in service based consultings the learning curve will be better coz we'll get to work on a lot of projects compared to a captive organisation ?

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. Today, during an interview, the Director with whom I was interviewing genuinely urged me to consider pursuing a career as a PA or even attempt to go to medical school. I had considered it in passing before but today was about the third or fourth time that someone had earnestly nudged me in that direction. Has anyone here made such a career pivot before? I love working in healthcare, there’s nothing like it.

I am project manager in clinical research industry (CRO). After earning PhD, I gave up my science dream to take a more stable job. After slowly climbing the ladders, I feel like I finally got a seat at the table. Half the days I like the hustle, but now I miss being creative. I want to take more brainstorming, decision making responsibilities but I don’t see that in the career path for PM. Career path usually goes like this- Sr PM, Director, Sr Director, and so on. But all do same work.
