Will Chase Sapphire Reserve cover stolen camera from checked luggage? AA basically said I’m SOL and home insurance deductible is higher than amount lost.

Worth a shot. I’m surprised AA told you to pound sand though. I feel like they should be liable for something stolen out of your luggage

like

D2 - SOL : Shit Out of Luck. No signs of break in since I didn’t have a lock

like

OP - well that’s stupid. Electronics is the only thing worth something. Maybe you can claim that your $10k custom Italian suit also got stolen and use that money for a new camera

smart

What’s SOL? And yes, chase sapphire reserve has a baggage insurance. Ideally the airline should pay you too, but in this scenario it might be hard for you to prove someone broke into your bag and stole just the camera. Is there a lock broken or did you check the weight of the bag before checking in?

Think so as long as it’s new enough

P1 - yeah really surprised esp with Exec Plat status. They said they are not liable for electronics. Super disappointed

No surprise AA has horrible customer service

The CSR has, I believe, a 100 day protection guarantee. So if it's within 100 days since you bought anything that was stolen, file a claim and they'll cut you a check for everything you claim. Also covers broken stuff too FYI. You have to file a police report iirc

Has anyone tried getting out of their lease and been successful? I’ve been isolating out of the city for 3mo and will be here at least another 3mo, if not more. I live in one of those large/newer buildings managed by Greystar Properties as opposed to a townhouse. Any successful angles/negotiation tactics/DC laws that worked in your favor (relative to the public health crisis/pandemic) would be greatly appreciated. For context, lease technically ends Dec 9, but am looking to get out before then

I am currently at a firm and received an in-house offer. Aside from main items like comp and big ticket benefits like PTO/health insurance/401k, what other items do I need to think about discussing/negotiating? For example, fees to keep bar licensure, professional association fees, CLEs, etc. I feel like there is so much on that end I currently take for granted being covered at my firm. Anything else I should consider?

Question for fellow attorneys:

I applied to a credit card with Chase a few months ago and within 7 days I was told it was rejected and they would send a letter explaining why.

Chase has recently calling to say it expired (they said it wasn’t rejected but I was told on the recorded line that it was).

Isn’t this against the law (fair credit reporting act)?. I’m not a lawyer so I’d love to hear your thoughts

Our district is so lax on the students this year. With tech issues and distance learning days, we’ve gone from accommodating to enabling real quick. No penalties for late work, taking excuses for attendance, lower academic and behavioral standards... We were beginning to make so much progress on transforming our school culture, but this year is erasing that and then some. Is anyone else concerned about how to raise the expectations and students’ self-discipline back to pre-enabling levels?

Serious question - is there a reverse FIRE strategy? I like the idea of saving and retiring early, but the one hiccup I see (and sorry if this is grim) is if you die earlier than expected. I’d be worried that I would minimize lifestyle and fun for retirement at 50 but I’d die at 49. How about a way to work 9 months out of the year and retire/travel/relax for 3 months? This way you guaranteed your dreams/etc. are fulfilled
