I’m in litigation so court appearances are a regular part of my day. However it would be awesome to have options for zoom appearances still - I just see it being an absolute planning/scheduling disaster
In my jurisdiction, they are continuing zoom for administrative attendances (assignment court, purge court, set dates etc.)
I just finished a zoom jury trial. The jurors LOVED it. It was stressful for us but I hope the courts will continue to allow these appearances and since the jurors are so happy with it we may have an ability to get more time qualified jurors for trials.
I think courts will eventually insist on in-person attendance. Most Judges are elected officials and the local bars will pressure them to maintain this home court advantage.
For some reason a zoom trial is the last thing I want. I do very well in person and feel like a lot of things would get lost over an in person courtroom setting.
