Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

Very very unlikely. They don't check for things like that in most reports. Even if it shows up, so what??

idk how background checks work but you can explain that the company was failing if asked in an interview

No, it will just show your employment history. And that is if the company responds to the inquiry, which I have a feeling it won’t if the startup failed. In that case you just send them a copy of your W2 or pay stubs as proof that you worked there

I just wen through a check. All of my previous employees have now outsourced employment verifications. Literally just shows tenure and last title
An employer I left in 2018 showed I was still employed. They asked me about it and I said if that’s true I am owed about 4 years of back pay
They laughed and closed it out

Won’t matter even if it shows up. The exit date or month you report should match with the actual exit date. That’s all.
Why does it matter? I openly explain to recruiters that I got laid off from a failing startup
