Good luck getting promoted if you say no to it
They're probably pretend to ask you if you want to do it. If you turn it down, it looks poorly.
Acting senior means staff pay to do senior level work.
Why wouldn't you want to do it? You get to play senior when it doesn't really matter and you have the managers support. Trust me, they know you aren't perfect or 100% ready for the job but they know you will be an asset. At a moments notice they are ready to jump in and support you
Do you even have a choice? This reeks of being voluntold
Depends on the difficulty of the job. 3 rated means meeting expectations and maybe they were exceeding in some categories. I would talk to the people that worked with them to see the quality of the person.
I would do it. If you're on a bigger job outside of this it'll be helpful to learn when you still have your training wheels on.
Depends on how you feel. Do you want this responsibility, can you handle it? Also, depending on the office if you senior small jobs, that won't guarantee a 4 rating. Just FYI. Something to think about. I would try to enjoy my life more as a staff 2. I had a similar situation. Got a 4. Was I super stoked? I could definitely live without it and maybe have some more sleep that year
Why not?
Does "acting senior" mean you suddenly know all the answers that you didn't when you were a "staff 2"?
I think you mean "offered". It's rare for staff 1 to get higher than 3s because you haven't done enough.
I thought you had to have roles where you were basically acting senior in order to be promoted though.
Lol, support. If it's easy take it. If it's a shit show you'll be rinsing the stink off forever
Small job; not public I'm sure? No risk so no one is going to make a change
But no additional compensation? Is it really worth it?
If you think you're up for it, take a chance. Great opportunity to show you're ready for advancement
It will push you to get out of your comfort zone and show you're capable of you do a good job. You probably know more than you think and the manager should be there to help guide you. I'm acting senior right now on a large client for a small audit piece, as I'm trying to promote early, but I think it's worth the extra stress to reach my goal in the end.
DONT!!
You can't convince them to pay you senior pay unless you prove you can do senior level work, though...right? Or maybe not. Maybe it's the opposite. For some people I guess the motivation just isn't there unless it's in the current job description.
No @AssuranceSenior1 I'm a staff 1 being offered an "acting senior" role for staff 2 year but unsure if I'm ready to take that all on without being paid more ya know
