Hi Fishes, Can you please let me know of the average fixed salary for an IT Auditor within Big4? YoE - 2.5 yrs.

A media company is looking to hire for a Sr. Internal Auditor role. They are based out of Iowa but the position is also available 98% remote. I recently got an offer for almost double my current salary. A tech startup wants me to join the team and handle a few select balance sheet items as part of their fairly large accounting department… the only thing is I’m worried I’ll be pigeonholing myself. Should I be okay with transitioning as an auditor to a specialized accountant like that? What happens if I want to leave in a few years but only have experience with a few financial statement line items?

I feel like a fraud every time I put Consultant on my resume/LinkedIn or tell people I am in consulting when in reality I do Risk/IT Audit. I’ve tried to make the switch internally at D, however it just seems impossible unless I quit. I don’t want to go for an MBA just to make this jump since it’s expensive and I only ever made Auditor/Risk salary. What should I do?

Need some advice! I'm a recent PhD grad (30 yo) in STEM, and just got some offers from different companies. Particularly, two of them are interesting to me. 1) from a Energy Market Company in Pennsylvania as an Operations Research Scientist, 95k + 15% bonus + very good benefits and generous PTO. It's a very chill job (9-5) with good people but limited opportunity to growth. 2) from a consulting company in NYC as a data science consultant, 130k + 10k signing bonus. Which one you choose? why?

I’ve been through 5+ weeks of interviews with a company that will IPO next year and they did a bait and switch on me with the offer: it was advertised as “Head of” and then during the offer-walk-through-meeting today they said “oh btw we changed the title to ‘Senior Manager’ for this role”. They offered me a salary I made 4 years ago as a manager. They offered stock options with an exercise price TBD 1 year from now…which is when they’re hitting IPO. Is that normal for stock options?

All- I have some friends who work at Bain and the more I hear about the place, the more I want to eventually work there. The issue is that my credentials aren’t the best. I will have an MBA from a T15 college in about 2 years time, I have 6 years of experience in analytics consulting, mostly at small firms and startups. I guess I wanted to ask the golden question, do I really have a chance at getting into Bain? If so, how should I plan this out?

Stay or go ? I'm at an early stage tech start up and gaining experience in an industry that I like. However, I am getting no formal training or sales coaching. Everything I've done so far (Inc. Targeted marketing and prospecting) has been self taught and I feel like I am lacking professional knowledge if I was to move onto a different company, especially considering that I am not involved in the full sales cycle.
