Is it normal to constantly be ghosted by recruiters and hiring managers or is this only something junior / entry level talent experience? Or is it just me I’m tryna see somethin

Need advice: I feel like I’ve accomplished everything I needed to in my current role and that 1-2 of my direct reports are more than ready to step into my role. But there’s no clear next step for me and my supervisor is a very busy agency executive that doesn’t offer any guidance. I really care about my team and it’s time for me to step aside so they can take their next step but I just don’t know what mine is yet. Anyone else been there?

How long does it usually take to get a decision from a hiring manager? I went through 3 rounds of interviews for an ACD role: individual team member calls, hiring manager call, and was brought in to their office to meet the entire team.

This was 3 weeks ago and still nothing. Followed up via email last week and was told “we haven’t heard anything yet.”

Question on 'unlimited PTO'. My last place had this w/was no set rules, we 1st had regular vacay days but when it went to unlimited it was a 'we're adults' understanding to not abuse it. If people used too much, their manager would talk w/them but in general we felt empowered to use it. My new place said at hiring it was unlimited pto, but I've now learned we can't take more than 5 consecutive days & should be ok w it bc they 'give us the weekends so it's really 9 days'. Is this common?

I just offered an intern a full time position as an account coordinator with a starting salary of $50k. They have only been an intern for 2 months and have no prior experience. They acted like $50k was a huge slap in the face. Am I crazy for thinking $50k is reasonable for entry level in Toronto? I am not authorized to negotiate so they will have to take it up with HR, but I am still just shocked at the reaction. Please tell me if I’m totally out of touch!

I am interviewing at a NYC ad agency for a mid-level copywriter position. They asked me about desired salary and I said I would need to look into it. Been interviewing with other agencies. Just found out I got offered position (Manager) with a pretty competitive salary ($90K). But I had a GREAT interview with another agency that I think I might favor more. The other agency wants to move forward with me and have me speak with another person on their team but they are OOO this week and are aware of the $90K offer. I have until this Friday to accept the $90K offer but other agency is willing to offer more pending 2nd interview. Advice please?!

Genuinely curious - why is production so often excluded from the C-Suite or leadership team at most shops? As a intermediate producer should I be planning my eventual exit strategy based on the lack of partnership/equity/leadership roles for production?

As a POC, I love seeing recruiters posting about DEI hiring and not relying on traditional measures of success, such as awards or famous shops on resumes, that often gate kept many POC candidates from entering certain roles or agencies. I also love that those same recruiters didn’t give me an interview because of those reasons only a couple years ago. LinkedIn messages and emails don’t disappear.

I’m 1+ years into my first role in an agency out of university. Without training I was thrown into the deep-end of not only managing clients but also managing every type of project (Design, animation, video, web, campaigns, etc.), leading project strategy, submitting proposals, producing videos, etc.

It’s great that I get to do a bit of everything but I still don’t have my footing under me or feel comfortable in my role. If anything I constantly feel overwhelmed.

When starting a role at a new company, do you typically spend the first month setting up 1:1 intro meetings with people from different teams that you work with or do you wait to run into people during meetings and introduce yourself along the way? Asking because I’m a huge introvert and prefer the latter.

I’ve been applying creative roles at Ogilvy on the portal. I applied for a senior writer and mid-weight creative role on the same day, and got rejected for one the next day and my status was “reviewed, not selected” but for the other it says “received submission”. I then realised it’s. the same status for some previous roles I’ve applied, as long ago as March. How long do they usually take to get back? Or should I just consider myself rejected?

I started at my current role about 6 months ago. I currently manage a handful of reports, however found out recently that a few of them make more than me (!???!)

I have talked to HR but they were defensive and could not guarantee that they could adjust my comp until end of year.

There are other reasons why I want to leave, but the salary feels like another nail in the coffin. I love my role though and feel like there’s more to learn, but can’t get past the salary. Is it too soon? Thoughts?
