I’m considering a SAM position at a WPP agency. I originally stated that I was looking for 95k, but would like to up it to $105k based on my experience and the competitiveness of the market.

Any tips on how to do this?

Also would love to hear from people who are currently at a WPP agency about their benefit/work life balance and the overall culture.

Debating between an offer at one of my dream agencies vs staying in my current role.

The role at the other agency would technically be a step down in role and the salary would remain lateral as my current salary, but it would require relocating to a city that has twice the cost of living of where I am now.

I do like my current agency and I’ve been here since an AAE. They’ve moved me up the ranks very quickly and have generally compensated me fairly. Curious to know what other’s thoughts are?

Having a difficult time making the jump to a more creatively-driven agency from my account-driven one. Anyone here from the former willing to look at my book and offer some constructive criticism on how to better position myself for those opportunities?

I’m currently considering taking a role as a Strategist at Edelman London, this would technically be a small step down for me professionally but would give me exposure to a larger company and a different type of strategy and process that I am keen to learn.

What is it like at Edelman in the London office? How is the progression generally? Anyone with experience, would you recommend it there?

Let’s say an agency was able to exceed their diversity goals, and became an agency of at least 80% bipoc. And it maintained at least that percentage for years. Would hiring a white straight old male for Alabama help their diversity profile?

Can someone share how the payroll taxes work for remote roles? Are you taxed based on where the company is located or where you reside? Considering a remote role with a lower salary living in a low tax state vs a hybrid role with a higher salary in a higher tax state. HR Peeps can u shed some light here.

Looking for advice: I am at a smaller agency 20> people and I’ve gotten a pretty good grasp of my role.

I’ve already gotten 2 raises over the last year and one of them being a promotion this year. Unfortunately I still make less than what I would need to make to live on my own in DFW. So, the possibility of making my desired salary this year is slim, and I’m also starting to feel stagnant in my role but the perks are good culture and wfh when needed.

Are creative directors just not expected to have a life outside of work? For instance, the CDs at my agency seem to be online weekends, late nights, sometimes expecting the rest of the team to follow lead, even when work is not urgent, it just seems they’re really absorbed by the job and worry as I go up the ladder I’ll find myself in this position.

Are there any agencies that are hiring for mid-senior level strategist/planner roles that are also fully remote? Really looking to make a jump because my current role has become incredibly stale.

Im in a spot where my direct manager is a close friend of mine, hence why I took the position. It’s not a good fit to be honest and I’m officially 4 months into my role. I am getting inquiries for some great opportunities from other agencies. Has anyone else out there been in this spot?

Is it common to request either a time guarantee (2-year contract for instance) or a greater than normal amount of severance when interviewing for roles in times like this?

My current role is pretty secure, so besides increased comp, I’d want to make sure any new role would include some sort of safety net.

Had my final interview at Twitter on Thurs. I think my recruiter was hit by the layoffs because the email is no longer avail. I reached out to a secondary recruiter who put me in touch with someone else but this new person hasn’t responded (I reached out once yesterday). The position is no longer posted online/my app is still marked as “interviewing” on Smartr. I CANNOT STOP checking my email. I know things are prob crazy at TW rn but this is my dream job. Just here to vent 😭

I am an in house copywriter looking to move to an agency. I have some experience I feel confident in my book. I’m looking through LinkedIn and I only see one agency that interests me: FCB Chicago. I’ve applied there before and I know their interview process is kind of a mess. Should I try connecting to CDs and ACDs at that agency to make the process go faster? Also in general what are some agencies that are hiring?

I don’t want to be in a leadership position anymore and would love to go back to concepting ideas I want to sell. (That’s what I love most. Always has been.) Does this mean an automatic demotion and salary cut? Or would agencies value the experience and expertise? Would love to hear from leadership POV.

I work in channel planning and love it, because I have great relationships with our creative crew (graphic/video experience). However, I see a huge gap in my agency where media strategy and creative strategy are disparate. Is that just my agency? Is there a role in other agencies that connects the two?

Working in ads as I'm not a trustie and need to pay rent, but I really want to direct features (and ads to pay rent.) Curious if I can parlay agency producer experience for directing commercials? Assuming I build a good reel making shorts and spec ads, could this work?
