How successfully do buyout Associates recruit into the startup scene?

Im a pre-MBA associate at BCG with diligence experience and a strong interest in PE. However, knowing myself, I think I will eventually want to end up in an early stage operating role.

Ideally, I would love go through a buyout shop’s Associate program to round out my skillset, but sometimes I wonder if a.) those skills will even translate to a startup and b.) I should consider a more direct path.

Anyone got any Insight on PwC FP&A Analytics Senior Associate role? I think it’s based out of Tampa/ NYC but can be remote. Don’t have a finance background so was wondering what training/WLB and compensation are like.

Question from an upcoming graduate:
I am on track to graduate this spring and just now searching for my first opportunity in the field of advertising (specifically a role in strategy. My question is, should I be looking for internships or associate/junior work options following graduation? Without any prior experience in the way of an internship or job in the “industry,” I am unsure if I could really even offer much as associate strategist. Any input would be beyond appreciated!

I am happy for the most part at my firm and have a very eclectic practice in different industries because I am a member of two different groups. I have an interest in a particular area of law that I sometimes get to dabble in but the flow to make that a bigger part of my practice is currently not there. An associate at another firm reached out to me about a position in the group that does the specialized law I’m interested in, but the firm isn’t super diverse which is important tome. Any advice?

I’m at a T2 and have an offer for MBB at junior associate level but also buy side analyst role at a LMM PE fund. Pay would be similar MBB - higher base, PE - more potential bonus (up to 100%). How many audit busy seasons do you need to switch from audit to FDD. My recruiter is telling me I need “two full years” to switch into a Senior role. “One full year” to switch into a experienced associate role. Is this true? I thought we just needed two busy seasons to switch into A senior role?

I’m currently a second year associate at a law firm, but will be interviewing for an in-house position at a large corporation. I’m meeting some attorneys next Saturday for lunch. (It’s the first interview but they know one of my references which is why we’re going straight to a lunch meeting). I have no idea what to wear. I’m 28-year-old woman and I live in a warm weather state. A suit feels a little too formal for a weekend, but I could wear a casual suit. Any advice?

It checks all my boxes but I’m worried about being pigeonholed in compliance and not being competitive for legal roles down the line. In practice, this job would involve both legal and compliance work but I’d sit in compliance. Has anyone had any issues going from a compliance role to a counsel role, particularly in healthcare?

2.5YOE and was recently laid off from a startup due to lack of business need.

Going from midlaw to v25 firm as a senior associate, starting at new role next week, which will be a big promotion. The type of work I have been doing is representing one side of a transaction and new role will be different in that I will be mostly on the opposite end and may still be different type of client work. Is it okay to feel completely over my head? Any ideas to overcome this anxiety? Thank you.

I’m sorry for using this thread as my diary yet again, but hoping someone in here can assist. 2017 graduate from a decent law school with high honors who didn’t get an associate offer out of law school. I ended up spending 2.5 years as a staff attorney at big law before spending the new two years as a litigation attorney at a boutique. I’ve been trying to crack into an associate position for about a year with little luck. Any advice?
