Has anyone transitioned/ pivoted away from tax into a project management roll? Currently working on my MBA as I dont see myself sticking around in public (or trying to get into industry for that matter) and was curious about how easy or feasbile this transition can be. Ideally I dont want to start from scratch at an entry level position doing project management as doing this associate work sucks as it is. Thanks!

I am a 3rd year senior associate in alternative investment tax and up for manager promotion this year. I really dislike the long hours of this job and seeking to make a move. Although I’m not sure i necessarily want to stay in tax. I have a young toddler at home and want to find a job i like, makes decent money, and has decent hours so i can spend more time with family. Has anyone been in a similar position and made a move? Can you please share your experience? Thanks!

In running for VP position at a large German firm with international presence. Comp guides seem awfully low for scope of the role: base of 200k Euros base and 50% individual bonus and possibility of adding another 50% annual retention bonus kicking in in year 3. They will throw in car benefits and education fees for 2 kids on top. How does this compare to typical VP positions in Europe? Does this sound about right? What do associate partners and partners at MBB make in Germany?

I started my own solo a few months ago. Things are going great but we are relocating to a much bigger city. We were in a small rural where i couldn’t find an associate position. I have a job interview at a pretty large firm with the practice area I’ve always wanted to do. I want to keep my solo practice running. How would you sell maintaining your solo practice while working at a law firm?

Advice please. I came into my firm as an onboarded team/staff attorney at a medium-sized firm. Not through a temp agency or a contract attorney, for clarification. Project ended and am now permanent, but not an associate. Aside from the title and partner track, I am paid $100k less than my class, and do not get the development opportunities. Awesome firm with killer reputation. I have expressed my desire to move forward as an associate. Then came Coronavirus. Poor timing to reignite my position?

I joined consulting out of undergrad, and I hope to stay 1-2 years after I make Senior Associate. I think I then want to move to a manager role in industry, but I’m having trouble understanding how an MBA fits into this. Some questions: 1. Will I first need to get an MBA after consulting/before industry? 2. If I don’t have an MBA when I leave consulting, will industry firms hire me and also give me MBA sponsorship? or is that rare

Hello 🐟 - qq for you all. I’m currently in tax and just got promoted to senior associate. I currently make $84K and am working on a XLOS project with an advisory team. Once my project concludes I was going to make a case to switch over to advisory and let my current partner know. I’ve spoken with the advisory partner and he told me he is on board but that I should wait until the pandemic is over since they are on a hiring freeze. Does anyone know what my new salary would be if I switched over?
