Giving my notice next week. I’m likely going to be taking a few clients with me (their choice). How do I transition the case to my new firm? Do I need to file something? And after I’m at my new firm do I reach out to the old one to get the file?
Confession: I am a lawyer who doesn’t like lawyers. I have seen and experienced enough in my 12 years of practice to conclude that the caricature of the lawyer has lots of truth.
When you do a bad job for a horrible partner so he never staffs you to his deals again >
I am struggling with the fact that I have 13 years of HR experience in one capacity or another, along with a bachelors degree and my PHR designation yet companies say “I’m not qualified or they ghost me when I apply for HR openings. I am experienced in all aspects of HR. How are people with little to no experience coming right out of college obtaining higher level roles than I have currently? It makes my passion for the field just go away.
Does anyone have an idea of compensation + bonus for a shopper marketing manager in California?
Trying to change my loan repayment plan to income driven. It says I'm not eligible for loan forgiveness. Is that because I don't work for a nonprofit?
Any Denver attorneys here have advice on how to break into the market? I live and work in NYC, but have Midwestern roots and want to move somewhere more sane (and mountainous)
Pivot ideas for an ID partner (non-equity) who is just over it? I don’t want to be at another firm doing the same thing but just with/for different people. I also feel like it’s too late in my career to start over in a new practice area. And lastly, I can’t take a pay cut. Any good next step you’ve taken/seen someone take out of here?
What’s the most you’ve ever billed on vacation?
Anyone gone from 1900 to 2000 billable hours required? It’s for more money but I’m scared.
My firm has a Zoom account. For whatever reason, the partner in charge of technology won’t let us use it, and forces us to use Microsoft teams instead. Every time I book something on Microsoft teams, I always have problems, especially when I’m working with other firms. I keep requesting the account log in, and all I get is “Teams works just fine, if it’s not, call IT (which is one guy who is unresponsive most of the time). What the actual fuck? If we have the resource, why can’t I use it?
Has anyone who has transitioned from IP lit to IP transactions/tech transactions regretted it? I’m considering this move but want to understand any downsides that I may not have on my radar. For context, I am a first-year IP lit associate in NY with a CS/EE background.
So sick of my job (I’m a junior commercial litigator) but the local market is taking a crap and I can’t find a new one. Can’t get enough hours here either. How do I keep my spirits up?
(Visibly) pregnant and on a trial team... help?

Im a BDR at a large medtech vendor that expanded into SaaS complimenting our existing smart devices at hospitals. Sales cycles are long in this industry (min 12mo), but seems our value-add platform is so new to market that it’s taking longer (16-24+mo). I’ve been here for over 6mo and support 3 AE’s with zero pipeline and wins, despite meeting my own metrics to get meetings. Is this complex environment usual for enterprise software sales? Not sure if I’m hurting my new sales career by staying.
Hi is anyone willing to explain to me what HR Strategy entails for an associate? Are hours long? Work stressful? How’re the exit ops?

I'm an immigrant from Brazil and I'm evaluating my civil engineering degree and starting from scratch.
I did internship in civil engineering during the entire period of college and worked another year after graduating, which totaled 6 years of experience. I would like to know how the job market is like for immigrants in the field of civil engineering in the US and what advice would you give to someone who is starting over and improving in this area?
Do most of you work in open office spaces or do you have your own offices? Curious if other editors find it impossible to focus when people are having meetings and calls near you.
Interesting fact: the word “Quarantine” comes from the days of the Black Plague when ships would have to wait 40 (“Quaranta” in Italian) days to enter Venice

Current temp contractor looking start my own LLC due to income/tax perks. Any advice or experience with the legal side of things, multi state work/tax, other pitfalls?
People often tell me I need to speak up, and I just have a habit of speaking at the volume comfortable to me, but apparently that's too quiet for people.
I know the obvious answer is to talk louder, but it feels weird, unnatural, and performative to speak up. Not a confidence thing, I just tend to talk to people at volumes similar to siri, zoom calls, or thinking out loud, and that's too quiet for people in real life. Have any fellow quiet people overcome similar issues? What worked for you?
I never owned a car before just planning to get one. It seems Hyundai has been capturing my eyes. Please any advice?
Also I would appreciate any pros and cons of owning Hyundai car. Thank you.
Hi! I have recently started working with a SaaS based company as a program coordinator co-op. I graduated last month and I am actively looking to get a full-time job soon. My current co-op ends in mid december and at my current company there isn’t any operations/program/project mngmt teams as of now. While my manager often indirectly hints of future opportunities in the company, he also keeps asking me to come up with interests in other departments of the company. I am not sure what this means?!
Does anyone have any advice on countering the base outside of the band that Google provides in the offer? Has anyone ever had any luck with a counter offer or do they strictly stick to it?
