How’s life in Layoffland today?

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are: get up and move even if you don’t finish or end up going on a walk. Pls take care of yourself❤️

I've seen quite a few people make jokes about being "aged out" of advertising. Could someone please explain what that looks like and when that typically happens? Forgive the dumb question, I'm a newbie to the industry so I'm a bit confused. Wouldn't agencies want people with more experience?

At my current agency 6 mos and realized I’m burnt out on ad. My coworker’s wife started at what sounds like my dream job a few months ago. Is it okay to ask for an informational interview through him?

Is it really that hard for managers to book their own conference rooms and send out invites? The time it takes to ask one to do it could it not have just been done by themselves?

Anyone get very depressed and anxious specifically around their birthday?? Comes around every year and it’s hard because people are asking me how I’m going to celebrate or what the plan is. Anyone here deal with Phantom Share Agreements? Would that be in the wheelhouse for an ECVC lawyer? My BIL is being offered a job with a company and received a proposed phantom shares agreement. One condition states that he must remain in good standing with the company even after the 3 year vesting period to receive distributions. Is that atypical?

I have been in my current job for 1 year now as a booking coordinator for a logistics company. When I started I had no idea of what my workload would be, now I noticed that my coworkers took the opportunity to pass most of their job to me. I’m burned out, can barely take break and end my days totally drained and exhausted, also the same people is harassing me with questions like: “why are you working that slow?” Or the “quality of your job is questionable because…..” continue in comments

My anxiety makes me good at my job. My incessant checking, and double checking, and analyzing has earned me praise, trust, and early promotions. Sometimes I wonder, if I were to take medication to give myself some relief, and to stop the panic attacks, would I be less productive? And then I wonder, do I value my own health so little? But I’m so validated by my performance...sad isn’t it? Hope I’m not alone.
