What are some tips for a brand new BigLaw associate who is starting their legal career remotely? Worried about how to get work, networking, etc. without any face time in the office.
How long do you all lay low during slow times before you start asking around for work? I just finished a brutal 6-month gauntlet and now had virtually no work the past couple weeks.
There’s no reason for your boss to be rude to you, right? Be a little more professional.
How should I evaluate my salary? I’m a 1st year associate at a mid-sized firm (50 attorneys) with a monthly billable hours target of 170. It’s interesting to me that my billable amount in 3 months is equal to my salary, and I’m wondering at what point that should change. I understand there is overhead that I have to consider when analyzing this, but I feel sure there is a typical ratio of billing amount to salary and I’m just wondering what that looks like. Any thoughts here?
Prenup Q: if I own house outright no mortgage, sign a prenup, does husband get access to the equity of the house upon divorce?
Let’s say I pay for all bills of the house and taxes.
It seems illogical to me by virtue of being married, he somehow will receive equity to the house bc I’m using marital funds to pay for my house.
I live in a separate property state. Can I avoid him getting equity?
I’m back to having no billable work again. My department almost completely dried up when covid started, so I’ve been relying on work from other busy departments at my firm to keep me busy since March. I feel like I start a new job every couple of weeks and am constantly begging for work. I’m just exhausted. Can anyone else relate?
In your opinion, what does sales enablement mean, and how does it function between sales and marketing? The space is still so new that it seems you hear a different definition with each person you ask!
Curious to know what you all think…
I want to get my masters in HR, but I also want to get my phr.. is it better to get one over the other? Or should I do both. Are there any masters hr program someone can recommend?
Feel like I am potentially on the verge of developing tendonitis / carpal tunnel. I try to keep my (standing) desk ergonomically aligned but the reality is that I spend 8-14 hrs a day typing (and, probably, tense) and I’m concerned about rendering myself physically unable to do this job. Anyone dealt with this?
How likely is it to land a job at one of the BIG 4s with an internal referral? Also, how long has the process been for those who did indeed land the job?
Is anyone here on the autistic spectrum? What kind of firm do you work for and how do you cope?
I recently started a job as an outbound, enterprise BDR.
I have no previous experience with sales, but I did really well at first. In my first two months I was at the top of my sales team, and one of the top performers in the national sales org for dials/arr.
I hit a block, and now I can't seem to get passes at all. My effort hasn't changed. But I can't get meetings scheduled.
Has anyone experienced hitting a block like this? How do you overcome it?
Is there any polite way to ask to be removed from an email thread? People are really abusing reply-all today.
I’m currently working with a senior level HR candidate. This individual has a doctorate in business with a focus in HR, her SPHR, Federal, and private sector experience at the singer level, and has a fabulous personality. I’m curious is anyone else having difficulties play some candidates like this? At this point I’m starting to think it’s racial or her sex based of the lack of interest in this candidate. Any thoughts?
What do you do when work is slow and you’ve already asked for work to no avail? Read articles? CLEs? Review case files?
Any tips on how to improve your negotiating skills? As long as the negotiation takes place in writing I am totally fine, however whenever I have a meeting I struggle to come up with quick compromises or solutions, no matter how prepared I am.
Would you drive a car that costs $135,000? If so, would it mainly be to show your success to your clients?

📱iPhone vs Android for a sales career?
Long-time android user here, have been told my lack of facetime ability and blue text messages might be a negative. Thoughts?
Self contained ASD 6-8 grade. I have the lowest and most aggressive out of the two classes. It’s as if they feed each other. Low focus rates. Do those in my situation have a lot of down time? Seems I can’t keep them on track. Wondering if I am trying too much on academics? I feel I should lighten up but if I give a lot of down time I don’t want others to think I am lazy. Trying to find that balance
