Second year associate getting ready to move from a small firm to big law in the SE. Any advice or tips to help prepare for the transition?
Pfizer is 80% effective after the first dose and 90% effective after the second dose, according to a new real world study. Most ill effects are from the second shot. So I’d prefer not to take the second shot. Am I wrong?
I recently started at a larger software company as an AE. As I’m getting more into the process, I’m finding things odd. Like, cold calls and emails are metrics I’m judged on more than closed won business. I know that’s part of the job but it seems strange I’m judged on it so heavily. And, I seem to be the first real outside AE hire as everyone else seems to have been promoted up from SDR roles, including all of my direct management. I’m questioning if I made the right move. Stick it out or look?
I’m not happy where I’m at, my abilities aren’t being maximized as I’m spread thin, and I know I’m being undervalued. Recently graduated and in property management w/ 3-4 years sales experience. Currently on the hunt for Sales/Account Management roles leaning more towards consumer goods, then tech. Any advice?
For all that HR leaders have done to shoulder the huge responsibilities over the last 6 months, what are your organizations doing to take care of you? For all the space we hold for other people, is anyone holding space for you?
Is your organization planning to require employees be vaccinated? I understand why management wants this but concerned about losing good employees because they don’t believe in vaccination or are wanting to wait until more people have been vaccinated to see if there are issues with it. I’m also concerned with moral if we require this. Employees may get it to keep there job but hold on to some bitterness or develop anxiety over it. Am I being too soft or over analyzing?
Hi there! I need some guidance. HR and global leadership rolled out some amazing new initiatives like not starting until 10 am on Mondays, no meeting Fridays and required 2 additional summer days a month. The problem is, my boss refuses to comply with the initiatives. He constantly scheduled meetings before 8 am on Mondays and after 7 pm on Fridays. He also doesn’t let me take time off. Should I go to HR? I’m really not one to complain but I’m tired and extremely burnt out. Thanks for your help!
Insurance coverage associates: how long does it take you to write a 10 page memo about policy law?
2nd year associate here. Has anyone made a jump from a boutique firm to big law? I found out that I’m a front runner for a gig with an Amlaw 100. I never thought I’d have this chance having graduated from an unranked law school and still being so junior. Even though the firm asked if I’d be willing to start as a 1st year given my lack of litigation experience, it’s still a monumental upgrade/ jump. I’m nervous about the culture shock and whether I’ll cut it. Could really use some advice!
Does anyone have recommendations for good legal recruiters in LA/Southern CA? Currently in-house, looking for other in-house roles. Thanks in advance!
What is your policy on a rehire and how you handle accrual rates for PTO, do you start over? Do you have a window like if they return within 6 months it stays with original hire date? Do you handle this differently when it is a layoff? I tried to find best practices in this but not finding anything.
To hr professionals in finance..I’m considering getting an online certificate through Cornell in data/analytics. Worth it or do employers think it’s equivalent to Coursera?
My labor & employment law firm has misclassified about 15-20 of it's associates. We weren't being paid 2x minimum wage in order to be classified as exempt employees. This came to light and then they gave almost no direction or answers for about 3 weeks and just responded that they will give all the affected attorneys back pay only. We are entitled to meal/rest break claims, OT, wage statement violations, waiting time penalties, etc. What should we do?!
Last year was a tough year for my boss so I stepped in to lead our team. We received an award for navigating through crisis and really were able to impact careers in a positive was from our work. My boss gave me a merit raise of 3% yesterday and was very excited to do so. I’m appreciative of the recognized effort however I still make on the lower end of industry standard. What would you recommend? This is my professional gap too - uncomfortable conversations.
Question for you sales and saas guys. I work for a fast growing startup and we are billing around 200 K a month. I am in charge of the sales team and our CFO mandates that we collect ACH payment information on every agreement. The problem with this is we have to reel in micro deposit amounts from customers and it feels like herding cats. I’ve worked for three great tech companies and I’ve never had ACH nor have I ever paid for services with ACH. Is this a totally dated process?
Hello, curious to know what other companies do for employee spotlights besides the traditional email blast to the company. Any recommendations to better the experience for employees?
If you were allowed to work remotely and only come to the office quarterly, where would you live? We are considering moving to a much happier location because of this and are trying to figure out where. Any ideas?
How do companies in Europe view T15 MBAs from USA? For instance if down the road I relocate to Europe would a T15 MBA from USA give me a competitive edge? Or its just neutral? Europe doesn’t care.
Almost a year into current job. Tons of long hours and menial work but starting to do some really cool stuff now. In-house agency reached out and the lower end of their budget is nearly 2x my salary..
If the system benefits you, then what is the incentive to change the system (privilege, wealth, etc)? Why not keep things the way they are?
Have to fly on Southwest today. Not going to be elitist, it’ll get me there. I am okay with being herded like cattle. I am okay with the lady and her loud 🎶 ... but I will draw the line at no Biscoff
From your experience, for the companies that are hiring, do they appear to be offering less than they usually would because of COVID?
The 100% WFH crowd is getting a bit unreal. I’m all for flexibility and a hybrid model, but think that 100% WFH is unrealistic. People deserve a choice. Also, assuming that anyone who actually likes working in the office and seeing their work colleagues in person is part of some nefarious capitalist plot to prop up landlords is BS… just say the truth.. You’re socially awkward and/or an anti-social 🤷🏽♂️
Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
Conundrum: Interviews at 2 different consulting firms in SF... I’m not from SF. Schedule on separate Fridays (flying in/out) or try to squeeze both into 1 day? If squeeze, how would that work??
My stand on immigration: A lot of folks complain about immigrants but they forget that the countries with the highest immigration rates are those that actively participated in slavery, colonialism...
Deloitte Consulting friends, could anyone share insights or experience with our GC program? I am becoming eligible for sponsorship soon but heard that they would not file until you are near the end of H1b - is that true? Do they just hold it even if you are eligible in early years of H1b? Considering an offer and this is a key factor. Thank you!

What kind of questions can I expect a partner to ask me during an interview for a manager's position?
I'm interested in joining a nurses union.
New client, customer segmentation work. Need to find out what customers can be tossed around by security without it blowing back on the client. Like, can we beat up drug dealers? Doctors?
